quote:Favors? Really? I would not take on an extra $7 million for Favors. There have to be other veterans available for less than that.
Pairing a solid veteran with Jabari Smith Jr.

I mean 7 million for a bottom dwelling team with almost no money spent isn’t bad.
Favors despite the narrative didn’t play poorly here. He’s not a great fit for a team wanting to run. He’s also got the defensive IQ that will make all of those guys smarter players.
If his job is to guide a #3 pick Power Forward with upside, he can probably navigate some of the mine fields.

I think Rockets probably did it to get to the cap floor, and add Favors who they can probably flip for something else.

That’s nonsense. By all accounts he’s considered a professional. Utah brought him back for a second stint after having him for years. The Jazz are a no nonsense organization.

Had some of the higher advanced metrics on the team.
He looked slow. Which is he is. That’s not lazy.

quote:He was slow but also looked lazy. He did not come back on offense a lot. He did not work hard for rebounds (which was his calling card in the past). Now, he also had a personal tragedy while he was here that could have attributed to his lackadaisical attitude. Regardless, I would not picture him as the mentor for someone like Smith (a physical freak).

He was far and away the leader in rebounding rate his one season here. His advance numbers show he was one of the better players on the team that year.

yeah i dont get the favors slander. in his role he was near elite, at least for that team

Wall’s money is offset by anything the Clip Show signed him for past the minimum.

Alvin made sure to use him wrong in every which way possible.
He ran pick n rolls 8 feet from the basket for him and Jrue and I wanted to fricking shoot myself watching it

He also took a long stretch away from the team. The team itself was terrible (13th in the west). If you go by that, Okafor and Jackson look like really solid players. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

quote:But not when he played. We were +4. when he was on the court, 2nd best on the team behind Zion. And he also had the best On/Off on the team.
The team itself was terrible (13th in the west)
And further, he only played 30% of his minutes with Zion, so those numbers weren't propped up by just being on the court with Zion all the time.
So I don't know what it was, but all I know is not only did he not hold the team back from winning, we played our best ball when Favors was on the court.

Who are you talking to? Of course I did.
You know a player competes with opposition for rebounds too?
Favors rebounding rate at 21% was good for top tier in the league, if he had played enough games.
Your expectations for who he was probably altered your view of him.
Dude was pro.

Make sure your story has accurate details. His mother unexpectedly passed away.
