The most interesting play of the night to me was a missed layup.

At the end of one of the Quarters, the Pels called a play for Zion specifically.

He got the ball at the top of the key, waited for the clock to run, then took his man 1 on 1 off the dribble to the rack beautifully, and attempted to lay it in and really should have made it, but it bounced off the rim.

Not a lot of people have brought it up, but this seemed like a really significant moment to me. It was something completely new in a variety of ways.

They gave Zion a last shot opportunity. Not only that, they put him in an ISO situation in a ball handling role at the top of the key and simply let him take his man off the dribble.

They are letting him learn and trusting him, letting him succeed or fail in situations so that he learns. They clearly want him to be (and know he will be) “the man”.

It was awesome.

Was this the one where he went right and missed and Josh hart put it back in? I was impressed by it he was so smooth with the dribble with his off hand even tho it missed.

Obviously Zion is the freakiest of freak athletes but the fact that he is a lefty is a huge advantage on top of the other stuff.

People on all levels just naturally defend people assuming their right is there dominant hand bc a vast majority of people on the planet are right hand dominant.

That's why I said previously that is worst game so far, the Milwaukee game, was so promising in that they trusted him to take the ball and go with an iso.
