Missi is the whole point of getting a first round pick: hitting on a player like him.

Exactly, he has outplayed his draft position and will only get better. Much better. Would cost multiple firsts, I’d say his value is higher than the Utah center and Ainge wants two firsts.

This board is so weird..

A month ago it seemed like everyone was saying "WE'RE GOING INTO THE SEASON WITH A RAW SOPHOMORE AT CENTER.. WORST ROSTER IN THE LEAGUE!"

Now Missi is worth multiple firsts... How many teams are going into this season with a center that's worth that much?

No this board is full of retards. Same situation I kept saying for years and kept getting downvoted on with Dyson. You don’t just trade them off. When they show some elite qualities, you develop them and see where they go.

I wouldn’t trade Missi for three firsts. You develop him and see where he goes for a few years. I’d hang up on the lakers unless they including Doncic for Zion, then they can have Missi.

1. He averaged nearly a double-double after the all star break last year.
2. He costs less than $4M a year.
3. He's 21 and going into his 2nd year.
4. He costs less than $4M a year.

3a. He would be under control for at least 6 more years between rookie deal and RFA rights

Imagine what he could look like in 3-4 years with just a little growth in his game and bulking up a bit each year.

Are you thick? Let me break it down for you:

Missi was a first round pick. So it would be silly to trade him for a singular first round pick just one year later after he showed great promise. That means he's worth MORE than a first round pick. Furthermore, if we trade him, we have a massive gap at Center. Who will we sign to play Center? Nobody worth a dang...because if there were good free agent Centers, the Lakers would sign that guy and they wouldn't be trading for Missi.

Yes, Missi is a "raw sophomore at center." We shored up the Center position with Looney and Queen.

You wanna talk weird, its your weird strawman arguments.

In fairness, the Pels just traded two first-round picks to add a rookie center, then added a veteran center in free agency.

Looney hasn't averaged more than 20 minutes a game in several years. I think he averaged 15 or 16 minutes the past 2 years. Queen is not ready for big minutes at the 5. If we traded Missi, we would still need a C.

Are we giving up on Karlo being a backup center? I thought he played pretty well last season.

Giving away Missi, full of potential, at a position we desperately need would be the quintessential Peli move at this point

Looney is strictly a mentor role for Missi and Queen at this point.

You don't use cap space to pay someone a two-year, $16 million deal to not get some playing time.

Very in keeping with the socialist/communist mindset, censor or ban the contrary opinion.

I never called for you to be censored or banned. I just want to be able to ignore you. Most message boards have that option.

I appreciate differing opinions. You are not that. You are a bad faith actor.

We’re a 21 win team that’s running back a failed HC and just hired a retread GM who just made 2 horrible trades in last 2 weeks.

My position is nothing will improve with worst owner in American pro sports and that is the root cause both franchises are bottom feeders.

If that opinion is bad faith so be it and I’m all ears as to why Gayle will ultimately turn these teams around???

What are you talking about? I love Missi.. think he has a bright future here.

However, you can probably find threads on Page 1 of this board where people were complaining that Gayle and Mickey Loomis saddled us with this turd at starting center

You're as irrational as the sunny side optimists.

Benson is far from the worst owner in sports. She's a caretaker who lets the pros run the show. Now you an argue with the amount of influence her core braintrust has and I might agree, but she's not a dilettante meddler as a rule.

The one caveat to that is if she is the reason they are keeping Green on, which I agree doesn't make sense. I'm not even saying he's a terrible coach, though I have my doubts. I'm saying it's nutty to clean house this way yet keep the HC.

That said the 21-win season is really fricking with people's heads. They weren't and aren't a 21-win team. That was an outlier caused by a devastating injury streak that would have tanked any team's season.

Late in 2023-24 the Pels were on course to be a top-6 team in the West and avoid the play-in. I think whole and with regular injury outcomes, they are still closer to that team than last year's, though I'd admit that projection is heavily Zion-dependent. But I'm not laying Z's injury history at the feet of Gayle Benson.
