Shams stated before Zion was on table but changed his tune afterwards.
he never said Zion was on the table. That is where some assumed that just because he speculated that it may take Zion to get a deal done, that he was on the table. He commented "would the Pelicans trade Zion for #3." Somehow, some turned that into "the Pels are offering Zion for #3."

We had this same discussion with this same poster and it speaks to exactly what I was saying yesterday.

Years from now if Scoot is an All NBA or MVP stud, this is the stuff that will be repeated, that Zion was on the table or we could have had Scoot. We'll forget the facts, and both of those are not facts, we do not know either to be true.

It was also understood that the deal for #3 wasn’t happening unless a high caliber player was involved. So by process of elimination names like Bi, Zion, OG, Siakam, and Bridges were are all going to be thrown around.

It’s really a perfect storm type thing. Even if Brandon Miller was the “hyped” player it wouldn’t have been a thing because it’s not a position of need. Zions struggles+ Scoot being a PG+ the package Portland wanted+ MSM = all this bullshite

Agreed! However, I think Griff is making a mistake by investing in Zion long term when everything he’s shown us and all the former players that’s been around him (JJ, CJ, and J Will who has called him out recently) have said he isn’t interested in being a professional. I know he’s young but I doubt he’s gonna reach his true potential.

I see the if Zion reaches full potential talk a bunch. We don't even need that. We just need him to play. He's good enough now to lead us.

I’d agree.

The best ability he could show right now is “availability”.

Honestly the only fact we know for certainty is the trade didn’t happen. That doesn’t mean that discussions for Zion were never had, or he was or wasn’t on the table. Nobody knows that its speculation. Facts are supported by evidence and if your only evidence is that oh Woj or Shams said it different- thats not proof that it didn’t happen. Like I said before if your Griffin and you are discussing Zion and trade doesnt go through theres no way it leaks that he was on the table. So you tell everyone he was never on the table. You lie through your teeth to make sure Zion knows hes staying here. Meaning you tell Woj or Shams that he was never mentioned in talks. To me I just don’t understand why its so hard for people to believe Griffin would lie, when every GM does when something doesn’t follow through. Its like we believe NBA GMs are the most honest people in the world lol
