I had the first half on in the background so Kira didn't really stand out to me. But I saw comments in the game thread and on twitter this morning saying he outplayed CJ. Kira had 3 points, 1 assist, 1 steal, 1 rebound, and 1 turnover in 14 minutes. CJ didn't have an efficient game, but the +/- stat is the main stat suggesting Kira was better.

So what are the stats not saying that y'all saw? Was Kira actually good, or did CJ just have a bad game?

Kira was not good.

Missed a couple of long shots. Had a couple of wild and out of control shots.

He did make 1 insane layup, probably one of our better plays of the season.

But no he wasn't good and he certainly wasn't better than CJ, who also wasn't good.

What you saw, is exactly what I saw. Kira was not that good. CJ was not very good either.

There was a nice run in the first half by the Pels' bench where Kira basically got all of those stats on practically consecutive possessions, which forced a Kings' timeout. It was a nice spark at the time.

He basically disappeared in the 3rd quarter, as did the rest of the Pels, going down by 18 at one point, iirc. I didn't watch the 4th quarter.

I saw this. I still don’t know how the ball went in. I also saw him jump a pass for a steal then the ambien kicked in. It was probably for the best.

Probably the best 2 plays. The layup was just incredible.

The steal was a great anticipation play on a steal that I don't think was his man to cover down low. He just read the play and moved over and anticipated the pass.

The rest in between was a bit rough.

Kira was not great last night. He has shown flashes of great play at times, but he needs more regular rotation minutes to hone his skills. Like GTA, Kira's lightning speed provides a real spark off the bench.

Kira doesn't spend half the shot clock dribbling in place so he gives others an opportunity to make a play.

Imagine arguing that Kira is better than CJ.

He obviously isn’t better, but I do think that Kira’s natural ball movement is one of the really positive parts of his game that isn’t dependent on shooting. IMO we would notice it even more if there were better shooters on the court because there are a lot of open looks that come out of that natural ball movement, but we have a lot of guys that turn down shots and/or miss.

We need to give Kira some serious run the rest of this season to try and see where he is. He’s looked pretty good in short minutes this year, though he shot poorly last night.

I went back to look at his draft evaluations when he came out and it was almost universally positive, with several commentators projecting him as the best point guard in the draft over Ball and Halliburton. His college tape shows a much more aggressive offensive player, a guy who penetrated the lane constantly, shot well from the arc and was an absolute blur in the open court.

Our version seems much more tentative and indecisive with the ball. Still you don’t want to give up on him too soon just to see him blossom on another team. At 21, he is still a young guy.

Kira virtually carried that last Bama team and played a really well rounded game. The only real struggle long term I see for Kira at the NBA level IMO is a bit of a double edged sword, because he is smart and a very nice person, but he also isn’t a natural “dog” and has a tendency to pull back, particularly on offense, if he struggles and that can be a killer if a team is relying on you.
