Seems like a natural replacement. Around the same size. Richardson is of course the seasoned vet and better defender but Hawkins is the better shooter.

It's way too early to know how good Hawkins is going to be as a rookie. I think I'll at least watch his defense in summer league before making any predictions on playing time.

Trade him for a second or send him away in the inevitable Jonas deal. But Naji needs to go.
Filler in a trade is fine but I don't think it would be wise to move him for a 2nd.

Yeah, dumping Naji would be nuts. He significantly outplays his contract. And he improved a lot last season, so who's to say that he doesn't unlock another level?

EDIT: And his toughness is something that inspires the rest of the team. Every team needs a tough guy like him.

Jonas and Naji are the only real “tough” guys we have on the team. Herb and Jose could probably be put in there as well but we are getting our money’s worth from Naji’s deal and more. He always gives 100%. We need more guys like him, not less.

The league is getting bigger. Jose will be at best, 9th man.

The idea is that Naji should essentially be our #14/15 player

I don’t think Naji would be on board with that.

Why? Seconds are really valuable and we don’t have any anymore.

If they pick up his option (he’s dirt cheap so they will), he’s an expiring. He’s done enough to command more than the vet minimum, so I’d be happy letting someone else pay him if they want to give us a second for a guy we hope doesn’t play.

better start developing a shot then. He can’t play with both BI and Z on the floor

Jose picks the pockets of bigger dudes all day. Yes, they can shoot over him, but he's likely to steal the ball before they can shoot.

Jose's full-court defense completely disrupts the opposing offense and gets them out of rhythm.

He's going to continue to get 20 minutes a game.

Naji’s play isn’t the issue, he logs majority of his minutes at the 2/3. Murphy & Daniels need to be ran out there every night with a full compliment of minutes

Use him and draft filler to address real needs

People are going to have to be realistic about bench players. We are going to start losing some of these players soon. We're just going to have to accept that.

one should hope these younger guys prove to be upgrades to the Naji’s and Jose’s if we want to challenge.

Which is why you draft well to restock those losses. We still have a nice stock of draft picks the next few years to draft from or deal in trades.

This is what people constantly said during Jose's rookie season. Then, they said it again last season. He's just an exception.

He shot 37% from the field and 29% from 3P in the final 38 games after going off vs PHX

He had a few good games but was brutal most of last season
