re: SI’s latest mock, based on rumors and buzz, has Shaedon Sharpe falling to us at 8.

I've tried
I haven't seen anything suggesting what you are saying.
The biggest knock I can find is the one I mentioned, a more reserved personality. Perhaps lacking the sort of alpha mentality you want from a guy with a superstar ceiling.
But I don't necessarily find that a bad thing. Guys like BI/Tatum/Zion/Jaylen Brown had similar questions, and this team is all about chill and work.

I have not heard any of this.
Also...its mentioned in pretty much every article about him in my just now 10 second search, so maybe you are just choosing to ignore it?
Literal first thing that came up, quote from anonymous NBA Exec:
quote:
“We’ve known for a long time that this kid will be in the upcoming Draft,” said an anonymous NBA executive. “Everything he’s done since has hurt his perception. How do we trust a kid whose camp brazenly lies to every single person they come across?”
There's quite a lot of other things out there.
It'll be up to the team to evaluate and see if its an issue or not.

It took me 10 seconds to find multiple articles about it.

So your evidence is an article that spends 75% praising him on all levels, and then goes into the well treaded ground of his declaration journey, and one sentence from an anonymous exec raising questions about that journey? Which is already well covered ground at this point.
Do you have anything else?

Yes.
I'm not doing this with you. You're choosing to ignore it or make statements more than they are.
Many people are commenting on his "camp" and red flags around him, and a lot of Scouts are commenting on how frustrated they are with his workouts as they have been done at very slow speed and extremely controlled.
It doesn't mean its true.
Its just something to keep an eye on, and so many people are making small comments on it that it just bares some thought.
That's it. No one is saying that he may have murdered 17 people.

Listen, the burden of proof is on the accusser.
Asking for supporting evidence is how we all have the ability to inform ourselves, and sorry, Fun Bunch saying "people are saying" then refusing to really qualify that doesn't imbue confidence in the allegations. Seems to me if the allegations were well founded, it would be really easy to find quite a body of evidence to quickly link that would make the concerns credible and irrefutable.
From everything I have researched there are 2 dominant questions I have seen: Reserved personality that may indicate a lack of drive(accusations thrown at guys like Edwards, Tatum, BI, and Brown for their respective demeanors at one point), and the whole complex journey of declaring to Kentucky and then waffling on the draft. Where some people want to shade Sharpe negatively with that despite it being what almost any player would do in that situation.
I'm asking you do you have any other evidence beyond that, or is that basically it?

I posted one thing after a 10 second search. Then you said "Oh not that, I meant other things".
Start looking at draft stuff and listening to podcasts, you'll hear it.
Both KOC and Russillo said it on Simmons podcast a few weeks back that they were hearing similar things.
I don't know what to tell you. Its out there in the ether.

He continues to move the goal posts for arguments, shocker

Sharpe falling to us is HIS best care scenario.
We don't need anyone with pick #8 to come and contribute immediately. He will be able to slowly bring himself up to speed while learning to be a professional.
Im not a huge fan of Shapre but without a doubt this is his best landing spot.

There's really nothing to argue about here.
Media types are mentioning small rumors that teams have concern and that his camp has been difficult.
That isn't up for discussion.
What is up for discussion is if the rumors are true and if they even mean anything? That is for the teams to decide.
This is all small stuff that seems to be circulating. Its not a raging inferno.
There's really nothing to argue about here, because absolutely no one here can know if any of it is true.

I cannot evaluate Sharpe at all because I haven't watched him play at all, so I can't say whether I'm a fan or not. Which is sort of part of the problem.

And I was also told Darius Garland would be a cancer cause of Klutch....Turns out he is wanting to take less money to make sure his teammates will be retained and get paid. Nothing but praise form teammates and about Cleveland from him.
And the catastrophizing over Wood was also overblown nonsense.
So yeah, I'd like to have concrete evidence besides source-less allegations before I declare a player a cancer. Cause often times on this site we have people that like to attribute that label without just cause.

Yes, it is, cause you cant seem to source this, and thats a problem for the credibility of the accusation.
So far we have one article citing one exec begging the question of whether his waffling on staying or going is a black mark on his personality, and we can have that discussion, but you continue to infer there is even more. So where and how can I find these accusations???

I would be as mad as when we traded out of Garland to take Hayes if he falls and we decide to trade back or skip over him.
I think that you are taking the opposite lesson from 2019 than I am. Sharpe is an athletic freak with incredible potential, who also has somewhat limited tape, off-the-court concerns, and questions about his work ethic.
That's exactly what we took in Jaxson Hayes. I saw multiple analytics stuff at the time that had Jaxson rated higher than Garland.
But it turns out that work ethic matters rather a lot.
I am not saying that we should pass on Sharpe, but if our front office passes on him because of concerns about his work ethic, I will be absolutely fine with that.

I think it's a mix of his calm personality, choosing to sit out this year at Kentucky, his combine workout looked lackadaisical, and he didn't participate in the combine.
Lack of "alpha mentality" is pretty obvious. If you're looking for a grinder who wants to compete maybe he's not your guy.

I’ve seen very varying reports on his work ethic.
In the very same podcast where Russillo and KOC vaguely mentioned that there are concerns around his camp, it was mentioned they he’s quiet and likes to workout in the gym a lot.
So who knows?

Do we know that was solely his decision? He wasn’t eligible until January and then Calipari didn’t want him to play so late in the season. Sharpe agreed of course but we don’t know the full story behind that

Some have speculated that the rumors around him are from butthurt Kentucky people that feel lied to, particularly Cal.
It doesn't mean they aren't true, it just means analyze the source.
