Arsenal/Artillery - Connection to the city's military past in colonial times and World War II.
Frontiersmen - Iberville and Bienville were "Coureur des bois (woodsmen)."
Revelers/Carnival/Krewe - Sure, why not.
Am I over thinking this? I feel the name should have a deep historical connection to the city. Too bad the "Tigers" are already taken.

"Artillery" would be good and historical. I wonder, since the Washington Bullets changed their name, if the NBA would think that name politically incorrect. Probably not, doesn't have the same connotations these days as "Bullets."
"Arsenal" ... the brand image there is taken throughout the world by the Premier League football club.

That's what I was thinking about Arsenal. I was trying to find a way to tie in the Higgins boats into the Hornets' name. Artillery would work for me.

Obtaining the Jazz name isn't happening unfortunately. So far, I like:
