The NBA is officially entering the modern era of sports broadcasting. On Friday, Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported Amazon Prime is expected to sign a rights deal with the NBA that will give the streaming service a "significant" chunk of regular season and postseason games. It is a landmark moment for the league.

Marchand reports the deal is expected to begin during the 2025-26 season and run through the next decade. The NBA's existing rights holding deals with ESPN/ABC and TNT will expire after the 2024-25 campaign.

As noted in the report, it is not an exclusive deal, however. The NBA is expected to sign a deal with ESPN/ABC to ensure the NBA Finals remain on those networks for the next decade-plus. Additionally, it is expected that either TNT or NBC will sign a deal to broadcast the games left after the Amazon and ESPN/ABC agreements.

How does that experience compare to the Bally Sports app?

I watch the games on prime. My only complaint is that you can't pause or rewind.

If a game starts at 7, I like to start watching at around 8:15 so I can fast forward all the commercials and FTs.

With Prime you either watch live or wait for the replay. I sometimes wait for the replay and see if they won first to bother watching.

Just so we're clear here, this has nothing to do with regional broadcasting rights.

This is strictly for national games which are currently only owned by ESPN and TNT

Correct. Though, one would hope this opens that door to handle local broadcasts.

Pels free with Prime would be the best solution for many of us. However, this looks like Amazon is trying to duplicate it's Thursday Night Football success with the NBA. Are they going to spend a Billions on that and then even more for the local games? I'm not saying it won't happen, but I can see Amazon being happy just getting a slice of the national games.

espn/abc broadcast blows, pre/post game and the game call. It’s embarrassing. TNT obviously has it down to a science with the right people and the right format. If TNT is forced out Adam silver needs to go
