Not saying it’s always wise to trade picks for established players, but nothing is as overrated as draft picks. When we look at picks we get so blinded by potential that we forget that a good bit of these guys just suck.

The sports media world could not believe that we traded Nerlens Noel for Jrue Holiday. Nerlens frickin’ Noel.

Is it a good idea to trade away your picks every year? No, that’s stupid, but it does make sense to strategically use them to get out of bad contracts or acquire more established players.

Do you know how long it took for this board to understand we won the (initial) Jrue trade? It took YEARS.

This board tried to sell Noel/Burke like they were superstars.

It took even longer for the board to accept that he wasn’t a point guard and forgive him for not being CP3.

Yeah I know. Like even when it first happened, I wasn’t upset. It was fairly obvious what Nerlens Noel would be. A good rim protector with no offensive game. I’d rather have the dynamic guard who can defend everybody. People just can’t accept that most of these prospects will suck.

We also got Jrue at a very young age and on a very reasonable contract. He came into the NBA super young.

Philly lied to us about his meds and that was utter bush league shite and probably cost us a 1st, but that doesn't mean it invalidates how much of a steal Jrue was for us. We completely ripped off Philly even with the leg injury.

Them not disclosing the leg injury is by far one of the shittiest things I've seen an org do to the Pels.

You right. Draft picks are so overrated, just ask Milwaukee. It’s not like they drafted anyone good to lead their team to the finals.

It was a decent trade but Jrue was hurt for years, he finally got heathy after he signed his extension with us. And that was a gamble at the time.

You say most draft picks turn out to be crap, which there is some truth to that, but when some hit, it changes a franchise.

That same draft, I remember hearing Dell was super high on the Greek freak. Think if the Jrue trade didn’t go through and he dropped down a few spots and drafted him instead. Greek freak and AD together. That’s franchise altering. Dell def still has his job right now lol.

Noel was never all that great but Jrue took a step back his first 3-4 years in New Orleans before becoming the underrated star he is today.

He scoring and defense regressed and then he turned a corner and he was averaging 19-20 a game and had all nba level defense

what makes me angry is that there was nothing the NBA could do to make up for it either.
