Possible head coaches: who you got?

Before the season, SI.com listed Monty as a coach to watch for possible hot seat contention:

Here are a few available possible head coaches (not a comprehensive list -- please add more):
Phil Jackson
George Karl
Jerry Sloan
Larry Brown
Stan van Gundy
Jeff van Gundy
Patrick Ewing
Nate McMillan
Kelvin Sampson
Scott Skiles
PJ Carlesimo
Vinny del Negro
Byron Scott
Alvin Gentry
Lawrence Frank
Lionel Collins
Flip Saunders
Eric Musselman
John Calipari
Isiah Thomas
Kurt Rambis
Mario Elie
Keith Smart
Avery Johnson
David Fizdale
Steve Kerr
Robert Pack
(stick with Monty Williams)
(other)
...also not sure which of these guys is assistant coaching elsewhere.
If the decision was yours today, who would be your pick for head ball coach of the up-and-coming New Orleans Pelicans?
Would you make the change today? If not, how long do you give Monty to turn it around, and at that point, who would you go with?
...and WHY?
I'd like to get some discussion about coaching strengths and weaknesses, and what fits this team, if possible.

Monty Williams, Pelicans: Caretaker of the post-CP3 Pelicans, Williams, who has gone 94-136 (.409) in three seasons, hasn’t had much with which to work. His situation is an interesting one to watch because New Orleans has ranked No. 29 or No. 30 in pace throughout his tenure. Does that super-slow approach make sense with an Anthony Davis/Jrue Holiday/Eric Gordon/Tyreke Evans/Ryan Anderson core? Will Williams — who is highly-regarded for his communication ability and was named an assistant coach by USA Basketball this summer — be able to make the right adjustments?

All star break make a change, Idk who. What's your choice?
Edit: if team shows no real improvement or is 10 below .500 at the break or something get a new coach.

give me some "why"s here, fellas
Posted on 11/6/13 at 10:32 am to drake20
Because I wanna see this Pels team score more than the other team

I said this in the other thread
KARL
Fast paced, uptempo style of play fits this team to a T. Remember his teams in Seattle?
Holiday could be our Payton
AD could be our Kemp
Ryno could be our Detlef/Sam Perkins
Stiemmsa could be our Ervin Johnson

Please take Phil Jackson off that list

I was very intrigued with Stevens from watching him coach when Butler was here for the Elite Eight back in 2011. His unprecedented success at leading a no-name school to multiple deep March runs combined with his shocking youth (he is younger than several players in the NBA) made him a very attractive hiring option. I was surprised that the Celtics picked him up, as I thought he would either further pad up his resume at Butler and try for the elusive title or join a small market NBA team (like the Pelicans). I figured the Celtics would go for a proven NBA coach, but I really think they made the right move and that Stevens will be a great coach for years to come. I am very envious of them.

Jerry Sloan
Hearts in mormon country.

Sat next to Ervin in Geology class at U.N.O. I told him on many occasions that he couldn't guard me.
Cool arse dude.

I had jazz history at LSU with Anthony Randolph. I got to catch up with him at a Hornets-T Wolves game two seasons ago. Good guy, I wish he would find his place in the league.

I'd LOVE SVG for this squad.
I'll take Karl over Monty at this point, but Karl was a huge underachiever in Denver.
The only playoff series he ever won in his 10 years in Denver was against the Hornets in 2009.
