Positive Spin: We have talent and a lot of ammo

That's the only positive thing right now. At least we still have most of the warchest although it's not worth as much now since the Jazz allowed the Lakers to rape them.
I don't trust Griff at all with it.
He's had enough chances. Gayle needs to sever ties and find a GM/coach that understands the modern NBA.
The game seems to have passed Griff by. He just doesn't understand the C position, spacing and how the 3 is everything.
Time to move on from one of our mid-range guys - BI/CJ, exchange guys like Naji for a shooter (even if that's all they do), fire the training staff, sell Jonas and use everything we have to find a real rim protector.
This team will live and die with Zion. Might as well go all in and surround him with pieces that fit.
If it doesn't work, it's on him.

The center position I agree.
But it is clear he does understand spacing, he just failed at getting it.
I mean literally in the offseason he sort of basically pre-empted an excuse for it by pointing at Fred Vinson. Calling him a competitive advantage cause he can turn bad shooters into good.
But it's not that easy. The idea we can accumulate 5 non-shooters and Vinson magically fixes them all is retarded. That piece on his process shows it is a very intensive process that requires hours daily with one player and that is why every year it is one guy. And like Herb shows, it doesn't always take. As his shot looks as wonky as it did coming out.

Having ammo is useless if you don't use it.

I think this whole “war chest” thing is really over rated. We have 1 additional first round pick this or next year from the Lakers and that pick will probably be late now that they have a decent coach. Other first round pick is the Bucks 2027 first round which could also be late if Giannis stays.
I wouldn’t consider that much of a war chest.

How much will it cost us to get Naz Reid or Poetl? Both are UFAs next year.

Yeah we already used over half of the war chest on stupid stuff like Steven Adams, Graham, getting nothing for Lonzo, laddering out of Steven Adams, Bledsoe and Graham. Spending a 1st for CJ. Etc.
We lost about 8-9 micro moves and it ultimately eliminated half of our assets over time.
Hitting on Herb in the 2nd rd and finding udfa gems in Naji and Jose helped make up for a complete mismanagement of assets, but it was still a mismanagement of assets that has us plugging, end of bench, better story than actual player types, into the rotation where we should actually have nba level shooters instead.
And this is before we even consider all of the blatant draft mishaps from multiple drafts.

Do they really have a lot of talent though? Certainly not on offense without Zion. Not that much ammo either as someone already pointed out. Griffin is lucky to have a job at this stage after wasting multiple picks correcting his own mistakes and trading the 4th overall pick. Lucking into Zion has probably saved his job... at least for now.
