Worst part is we played our starters big minutes in a blowout with a b2b tomorrow against Memphis who may not rest their starters since we didn't do them any favors in helping them to gain a game on Sacramento.

Lakers just blew a 10 point lead with under 2 min to go. Going to OT. This could be huge

Jazz lose in OT

Will Hardy is a good coach or at least shows a lot of potential

Sengun massively outplayed Jokic and Jalen Green made Jamal Murray quit. (Injury)

the silver lining out of this is the Jazz can officially not catch us anymore

we officially clinch a play-in spot tomorrow with either a win or a Mavs loss to the Kings

to update after April 4 games... and due to how things now look for the Pelicans... I will now make this an all around post of who the Pelicans can still catch and who can still catch the Pelicans

(GU = Games Up; GB = Games Back)

5) Warriors: (1.5 GU of NOP... season series with NOP tied 2-2)
Fri. @ SAC
Sun. @ POR

6) Clippers: (1.0 GU of NOP... lost season series to NOP 3-0)
Wed. vs. LAL
Sat. vs. POR
Sun. @ PHX

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7) Lakers: (1.0 GU of NOP... won season series over NOP 3-1)
Wed. @ LAC
Fri. vs. PHX
Sun. vs. UTA

8) Pelicans:
Wed. vs. MEM
Fri. vs. NYK
Sun. @ MIN

9) Timberwolves: (0.5 GB of NOP... season series with NOP tied 1-1... Final Game April 9)
Sat. @ SAS
Sun. vs. NOP

10) Thunder: (2.5 GB of NOP... lost season series to NOP 3-1)
Thu. @ UTA
Sun. vs. MEM

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11) Mavericks: (3.0 GB of NOP... season series with NOP tied 2-2)
Wed. vs. SAC
Fri. vs. CHI
Sun. vs. SAS

ETA: you will notice that in this update I deleted the Suns (Pelicans can mathematically not catch them anymore for the 4-seed) and Jazz (can no longer mathematically catch the Pelicans for a postseason spot) from the list following tonight's action

tomorrow night's Lakers/Clippers game is HUGE for play-in ramifications

the Clips have already secured the season series over the Lakers (3-0)... so in order for the Lakers to pass the Clippers to get out of the play-in... the Lakers have to beat them on record

ETA: if the Clips win tomorrow... it's almost mathematically impossible for the Lakers to get out of the play-in I think

not to mention they're still alive for the 1-seed in the West... chasing a Nuggets team that's struggling mightily right now

they need to win out (@ NOP, @ MIL, @ OKC) and have the Nuggets lose out (@ PHX, @ UTA, vs. SAC) for that to happen... but it's still a possibility

just as a FYI... Memphis & Sacramento split their season series 2-2

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ETA: Memphis is on the back half of a back-to-back as well when we play them Wednesday... and they had to play their starters 35+ minutes too just to pull away late from tanking Portland

so we're in the same boat... except they have to make the 40-minute flight (made up number to show how short the flight is) to NOLA tonight

also... Xavier Tillman started but only played 13 minutes tonight vs. Portland and didn't score... did he get hurt?

that seems like an anomaly

Portland doesn’t really play any bigs (especially w their g league lineup). That was likely a matchup decision. And also a decision to keep him fresher for a matchup w Jonas and Nance.

Not much went right today, including Minny winning over the Nets, but there was a potential benefit to that game we might be overlooking at the moment. The Nets loss meant that the Knicks officially clinched the 5 seed last night, meaning we may get to play against a Knicks team that is resting their starters for the playoffs. Randle was already out, but they have still been playing well and winning without him. But if Brunson, Randle, Mitch, Barrett, etc will all be sitting out or playing limited minutes, the matchup against the Knicks feels a lot more winnable. I doubt we can beat Memphis tmrw. So winning against the Knicks and Minny is a must at this point to at least guarantee we can host a play in game and/or stay in the 7/8 matchup so we at least have 2 bites at the apple to get in.

We kind of fricked tonight. Now Memphis needs to win to keep up the 2nd seed. Last night was a disaster. With our schedule I hope we hold on to the 10th seed.

You know, it’s interesting bc I thought Memphis would try to win tonight too, but I just logged into fanduel and they have the Pelicans as a 5.5 favorite. Which indicates that Memphis might not play Morant or JJJ tonight.

So maybe we have a shot tonight, depending on what type of lineup Memphis rolls out there tonight.

This is a bit melodramatic considering we're clinching a postseason spot tonight... either through our own doing (beating Memphis) or with the help of the team that beat us last night (Kings beating the Mavs)

Maybe Vegas already got some insight on the Big Z update coming out today

Does Memphis have the tiebreaker against Denver? 2 games back with 3 to go. Wondering if they’ll play for the 1 seed.

If so, I think Pels lose tonight and win the last 2. Knicks seed is locked. 42-40 and get the 7 seed in play-in tournament.

That makes more sense then to why were favored. Memphis and NYK might both lay down for us.

Denver could've wrapped up the #1 west seed last night but instead lost by 21 to the tanking Rockets

It was so bad Malone called out his team as soft (ouch)

As I noted above... the Grizz can still get the 1-seed... they need to win out & Nuggets lose out

Denver does have 1 should be gimme win in their final 3 games... but after losing by 21 to the Rockets is anything a gimme for them right now?

They're struggling and leaving that door open for Memphis
