I don't understand why in this modern age with tools like social media The Bensons didn't put this up to a fan vote. Let your fans decide-you know, the ones spending the money. Make them feel empowered and involved!

Possibly to get a quick reaction across the NBA to see what everyone thought of it. No better way to do that than to go to the major sources like Yahoo and ESPN. It's just a theory and I don't have anything that I'm basing it on, but it's certainly in the realm of possibility, especially since they quickly came out after everyone was able to put in their 2 cents to say that this was not the final decision.

Sorry. It has been theorized that this information is due to a leak for the purposes of a trial in which fan+media+whatever reaction would be judged.
