There would be a handful of locals that would like it but you don't get more WNBA-ish than Bounce. It would be the worst name in sports.

Yea I don't like Pelicans. What would happen to Hugo? The hornets jerseys are bad arse too. When I hear pelicans I think of brown and white for some reason.

That was the perception. I personally don't like the name at all, but it's irrelevant. I'll keep going to games and cheering. I'll just be doing it in retro Hornets gear.

Was surprises most in here hAve taken it well. FAcebook from the casual fan it's taking a beating but once people get use to It they will be fine.
I'm sure if we were never the hornets and just changed to hornets people would hate hornets As a name.

I like it, it's the state bird, it's unique. The logo could be a pimp bird if done right.
The hornets were a Charlotte thing. It never quite fit New Orleans.

What I'm just hoping for is what another poster suggested. Benson put the name out to the major media sources and wanted to gauge the reactions of the fans as well as the media and general public. The overall reaction was largely negative from the fans and pretty much all negative from everyone else. I'm hoping that causes them to choose something like Brass instead. I could still roll with the Pelicans, though, provided that they choose a good logo and color scheme.

We'll see. I'm really skeptical. Red, Gold, and Navy is painfully generic. I'd be more likely to just wear a random red, navy, or gold shirt.

I saw this floated out there, but it seems a reach. Possible, but a reach.
If they wanted to judge reaction, why not a focus group, or check polls on message boards (unscientific, admittedly). Something like that.
Why would `this' be the way to do that?
