The Timberwolves have secured permission to interview New Orleans Pelicans assistant Chris Finch for their coaching vacancy, according to league sources. Finch and new Wolves president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas worked together in Houston

Kinda hope he doesn’t get the job so we can have him as a possible HC in the future.

Good for Finch, terrible for us.

Yeah, my "support" for Gentry has really been support for the coaching staff and that would take a big hit if Finch left. I guess the silver lining if he gets it is that Igor Kokoskov is available thanks to Phoenix, and as NOFOX pointed out he has a lot of Gentry/Griffin/Suns ties so he could slide right in as a high level replacement.

He's going to get the job. But this opens the door for us to bring in Igor Kokoskov as our lead assistant coach.

ETA- Ha, posted before I read TigerATL's response. I really hope they bring in Kokoskov. He got a raw deal in PHX and would make an excellent addition and potential successor to Gentry.

Anyone know Igor’s buyout?

I’m interested in him but I don’t think he bites if Sarver is paying him to sit at home. He’d probably lose money taking an assistant job.

Any teams ever forbid an assistant from interviewing for a HC position at a different team? That would be pretty scummy

I doubt that will be an obstacle. I can't imagine Sarver paid him much in the first place and I can't imagine Kosokov agreeing to sit out of coaching a year or two to preserve an offset.

I would be surprised if he got it. My worry would be they want him to make a lateral move and offer more money

You think they keep Saunders as head coach? He's so young, I'd think he could slide back to a lead assistant. I think Finch would win out over Vanterpool and Howard due to his work with AD/Boogie and Jokic plus his familiarity with Rosas.

Not sure what Minny has in mind, but glad to see Finch returning.

I just don't get why you all are so high on Finch being a HC.
