I think those are very generous odds, but the takeaway is how much the team's reputation has changed. The Pels are becoming a destination team.

Or the Pels would one of the few teams with potential assets to pull it off.

My bad, I thought his contract was up this year, not next.

He has a year left but is eligible for SuperMax this offseason. If he turns it down the writing is on the wall and they will have to move him.

To go with it: Heat don’t have the assets really to get him in a trade unless he forces himself there. That speculation is based on how great a franchise they are attracting him in FA or a forced trade.

Sort of the same with Raptors.

We are purely based on trade. We can give up a shitload while still retaining our two best players. I wouldn’t do it without some level of commitment. You can call me crazy. I’m not giving up a shitload for a year and getting Kawhi’d.

We’d probably have to give Zion for him

If he’s turned down the SuperMax they have very little leverage. It’s just what other teams can and would realistically offer.

My goal would be to keep Zion and Ingram because not doing so would defeat the purpose.

What better deals would be on the table than Jrue, Hayes, NAW, and let’s say 5 1s.

Miami doesn't have the picks but Bam and Herro are better trade chips than those 3 to a rebuilding team like Milwaukee would be.

My dark horse: GS

Hate to say it, but the rumors have been there and GS is one of the only well-positioned organizations I could see as bold enough to give up a shocking asset in a trade to a team that doesn't seem like would want to tank. Like Steph Curry or Klay Thompson shocking.

And I think that is the sort of bidding you would be getting into. Because some combo of guys like Klay, Curry, Pascal, Jamal Murray, Embiid, Tatum, Bam Adebayo + Heat's young guys, plus tons of picks, is probably gonna end up on that theoretical table....That or he is gonna leverage and signal he is only gonna sign with one or two teams and you're screwed if you aren't in that number.

Let them go for it. I wouldn’t give Zion that’s for sure.

I just wouldn’t. I don’t care what anyone says.

I'm not saying I wouldn't, but considering the financial ramifications(which I would need to look into), it's not an easy yes right now.

As is you get Zion cost-controlled for 8 or so more years or you get an MVP ready supermax Giannis at around 50 million a year for the next 5 years.

If you project Zion as a top 5 player in the next 4 seasons, or don't think you can immediately compete for a championship in the West built around just Giannis/Jrue/Ingram(and I am not sure we could) you probably shouldn't take that hypothetical deal....This is me basically talking myself out of it.

Blockbuster 4 team trade:

Bucks:
Andrew Wiggins
Darius Miller
NAW
Zhaire Smith
#2
#13
21 6ers 1st
24 6ers 1st
22 Pels 1st
21 Minnesota pick

6ers:
Redick
Jrue

Pels:
Giannis
Al Horford (yuck)

Warriors:
Middleton

Pels final roster:
Ball,FA,Frank
Ingram,Hart,Didi
Giannis,Kenrich,FA
Zion,Melli
Horford,Hayes,Okafor

Built to win now and for the future, with still a boatload of draft picks left over. We not giving up much, may have to throw 1-2 more 1sts in from our end, which i would do if I got a guarantee of a re-sign. I don't see anyone else being able to put together much better.

In what universe would the Warriors do that.

Giving up 2 1sts and Wiggins for a 50/40/90 guy that would fit great at the 3 next to Steph and Klay?

One could argue Middleton would be a better fit than Jrue for them. Although that part could technically be a different trade between just Milwaukee and GS.

His supermax likely won't be that high. Dame got $43M, but that was before Covid. The cap will likely contract to make up for the lost revenue, which will reduce the max. They may do smoothing, but nobody really knows yet. It may not be drastically lower, but I would be stunned if it went up.

That said, I still wouldn't trade Zion for him now.

Or the Bucks....

I hate to keep saying it, but we've seen the market, we've helped set the market. You aren't getting Giannis for a high pick in a weak draft and filler.

Either he allows a wide net to be cast and a bidding war ensues, or he signals some limited teams/scenarios and those teams start a bidding war. Either way, you are going to lose significant assets to acquire him IMO.

Like pencil in as going out either Zion or Ingram if we are in that battle.... Which I'm not sure we should be.

They probably aren't going to facilitate a trade where they're launching a Western conference power.

The Giannis trade I put forth would essentially be Giannis for Zhaire, NAW and 4 first rounders, probably would need more picks added (as I stated, and we could probably get Philly to add more), but that would be a solid offer that would be hard for another contending team like Miami or Toronto to beat.

The Wiggins/Middleton swap is basically its own deal
