Bulls won the rebound battle 47-42

Pels however won the steal battle 15-4!!!

Pels won the blocks battle 10-2

And we won the turnover battle 11-21

That’s the formula for playing small and winning

I hope that Herb is able to play the next game, but I won't be surprised if he sits it out. That fall he took is going to swell up and hurt.

It's not even just about Missi. Theis certainly didn't look like a guy who is washed up and should be playing in Europe.

Shel's being a bit of a wet blanket (what else is new) but he's not entirely wrong.

We'll play much better front courts than Chicago. The Blazers will be a better test for sure.

We were +12 in Theis's minutes, by the way.

We know who Theis is, a good or bad game tonight doesn't change that.

Not good enough to be a starter playing 25 mpg but certainly good enough to be in an NBA rotation.

Nothing has changed of what Theis is because of 1 game.

Oh, for sure. I'm not saying that we are going to get great center play every night. What I am saying is that it appears that we will get competent center play.

That's all we need.

He’s not wrong.

The bulls stink. They are going to lose a lot.

But it was still fun and we are missing two of our best 7 players. It was a good example of how to win small.

Portland is an entirely different team c

I'm not wrong at all

It's wild how people latch on to 1 game and think THIS is the average play we'll get out of our centers.

Folks will come at me. Those same folks will be absolutely furious when the center position does struggle because they've adjusted their expectations to an unrealistic place. Then they'll also be mad at me when I say told you so.

It is what it is.

The worst case scenario was that Missi wasn't ready for regular NBA minutes, and Theis just looked old and slow, and we needed to make a trade right away.

Bro we're hyped and it's opening night. Yves played far better than what anyone expected. It's all good.

So your entire season thoughts on the center position was going to swing wildly in either direction based on the play of 1 game in the first game of the season?

C'mon, man.

Like, if Missi had 3 quick fouls and Theis was meh, you would then think just entirely different about what they'll do this season... Why?

I liked that we are able to keep a body on the bigs vs playing drop coverage and allowing space. Even though Vic was effective when he got the ball, he wasn't as dominant as I thought he could be. We did a good job overall keeping them from getting too many easy shots down low.

This

The vision for what Missi can do is there.

He'll contribute, and already did, way earlier than we thought.

Huge Ws..

The center position will also be an overall liability this season. I sure hope I'm wrong, but it's irrational to entirely change an outlook to THAT degree over 1 game.

Not to the extent that we'll be worse than we were last season.

I fully expect the Pels to win more games this year than the year before, which they've done every year for the past 3 seasons.
