Smith, Miller, and Roberts are hardly "held assets." They are easily replaceable bench players.

Smith may have to be replaced as soon as next year too. Honestly with the perimeter scoring that has been added from Jrue, Tyreke and an "all in" Gordon, Amundson can probably take Smith's place.

JSmoove for Greg Oden is a no brainer and its worth keeping Rivers' potential too.

You have to give up either Smith or Rivers. So you lose depth at the 5 to sign a guy who may or may not be able to fill that void you createf

That's the Risk. A healthy Oden makes you a muuuuuuch better team than a healthy Smith. I'm sure Dell and Co. (and the Heat, Spurs, Mavs) are relying on much more medical info than this board is.

A top 10 pick who will struggle to find minutes this season as it is.

On the flip side, an unhealthy Oden makes you worse than a healthy Smith. The qualms from guys like Jester and I is that the unhealthy Oden is much more likely than the healthy one. History says so. I'm sure Demps won't do it unless he's confident Oden can at least be somewhat healthy, so we'll see what happens.

I agree with that completely.

We aren't competing for a title with a gaping hole at the 5. Now now, not ever.

Healthy Smith doesn't fix the gaping hole. Neither does an unhealthy Oden. You're at the same place...not in the title hunt....so you really don't have much to lose.

Jason Smith is taking us anywhere at Center for the Pels.

No, but we're closer with a healthy Smith, and you said that's all that matters, being closer.

If you ignore the possibility that Greg Oden could be healthy then you would be correct.

Weird you say that cause Miami, San Antonio, Dallas, and the Pels are interested in the two shittiest legs in NBA history.
