Pelicans scheduling inequality……13 of 19 against playoff teams

I’m just fascinated with how this always seems to happen to the Pels. It’s like they can’t ever catch a break.
Starting with the December 30th game against Philly, the Pels will see a top 6 team from each conference 13 of the next 19 games. And as we know thus far, largely without our two best players while those teams have somehow become miraculously fully healthy(and injured directly afterwards). That’s a wild stretch.
For comparison, in the following 23 games, we will only see 4 games against current top 6. And those four are two against Sacramento, one Cleveland and one Dallas.
I know it feels like we do the schedule talk every season. But just based on tanking etc, we will certainly tack on a lot of wins on the back end.
I just can’t believe how brutal the schedule gods have made things and can’t wait for February.

Yea, the timing is bad.
The schedule definitely lightens up the last month or so of the season, maybe a bit more.
If we have our guys, we'll probably need a really good 18-5 type run to try and play catch up.

I guess the silver lining is that we SHOULD have our guys back to feast on lesser teams and have a great stretch run record

And to add to this we had so many games in a short period of time. It seems like the most time we had between games is 2 days and that was on the road having to travel, the magic team we play Friday hasn't played since Sunday. And those 2 home away back to backs playing a top east team both times then the next night going on the road for your biggest division rivals was some BS.

Good lord. How is that even a thing? I’m fully counting on even Jonathan Isaac to be on the floor against us the way things are going.

Just for good measure, we also have back to back, back to backs coming up. 4 games in 6 days. Seems fair.

The good news about all of this, when we get to the playoffs all teams will be dealing with similar rest/scheduling situations, so we should benefit from that more than most.
