Let's look at Zion's tenure so far:

Year 1
Meniscus tear, misses most of season
Injures hamstring in bubble, injury hidden

Year 2
Covid offseason so can't really do normal training with team
Injures hand towards end of season

Year 3
Injures foot in offseason, needs surgery, can't do regular workouts or train with team

A very inauspicious start.

Shows you how great our media is that our big star had a broken foot for 3 months and it doesn't leak until media days. But we do get quickly debunked reports of piano playing that circulate for days. What a joke.

I wanna see that leadership and work he's putting in show with effort on the defensive side of the ball.

Willie Green admits he doesn't have much of a relationship with Zion at the current time, entering his first season as coach, but is in the process of building it.

Sucks, but really shouldn't be too shocking that a local media that has faced a decade of hyper consolidation and enormous budget cuts, where much of the coverage is going through unpaid bloggers(nothing wrong with bloggers, but they aren't trained journalists) is failing to produce great journalism and accurate reporting.

Griffin declined to answer a question on whether Zion would be playing in bursts to start the season...

Goddammit it is such a huge fricking bummer Zion isn't out there building chemistry on the court with his new teammates. We're gonna be figuring this shitout on the fly this season, play pretty well on the back half and win 37 games and I'll be fricking furious.

So did they mention who are the projected starting guards? I kinda feel like it’s somewhat important too.

I mean of all the reporting(much of which is seemingly turning out inaccurate or poorly contextualized), that is the one thing I don't really care if Zion is upset about.

Aaron Nelson has proved himself time and again including with our team being amongst the least injured last season(just happened all at once so it was frustrating) that he knows his shite.

If Nelson says bursts, Zion needs to get over it.

Willie Green says that the Pelicans can take major steps to improve on their end of game situations. Says the team will focus on this part a lot in practice, looking to find what works on both sides of the ball.

I'm thinking it all depends on Zion. Not what he says but how he looks. I think a major part of the reason for his bursts last time was the shape he was in or wasn't in for that matter. If he is 100% healed and comes in at great shape, there is no reason at all for any bursts.

The only guards that have even been mentioned so far are Graham, NAW, and Temple.

But they did say that it's going to be a competitive camp to determine who the starters will be.

I mean he's not Aaron Nelson, it's really not his place to determine what rehabilitation and recovery schedule Zion needs to be on, or to disclose what is probably a fluid situation with his rehab and then have the media and fans take what is true today but might not be tomorrow as gospel.

Not one to defend Griff but that is the right answer there IMO.
