David Griffin on his relationship with Zion: "Z and I spoke yesterday and shared a laugh about the story. Zion and I shared a laugh about it, because I don't play the piano."

Griff his relationship with Zion: "Z (and his family) were unhappy with the way (our) relationship was characterized."

Its amazing that no one saw Zion in a walking boot or anything all summer. That is unreal given his level of fame and so on.

There's zero chance if he played for a big market that no one would have discovered.

Theme of our offseason might just be how poorly our local press is at gathering and vetting organizational insight.

I can't wait for his return and they ease him in with playing 4 minute bursts

And the media/fans/myself for the inevitable talking point about how Zion has showed up for a 3rd straight season not in the best shape now due to this.

I don't know, I can't imagine them being dishonest and hiding something when it comes to dealing with an injury

David Griffin says that Jaxson Hayes' was "an absolute monster in Nashville."

David Griffin gives more detail on Zion Williamson's fractured right foot: It was the 5th metacarpal bone, and according to evaluations yesterday, it's not likely Z will appear in preseason games. (There are 9 days between the last preseason game and start of regular season.)

It would take some balls to lie about a player having surgery. Very slim to no chance that's the case. But I don't understand not getting ahead of all the negative press with an announcement. I guess it would have led to a different kind of negative press, but at least it would have been based on facts.

If there were no truth in it, you can bet Williamson would refute it immediately. Why would he cover for Griff.

Gotta say, Griff handled that well. Not nearly as much of the snake oil bullshite.

If he carried himself like that more often I would hav ea lot more respect.

Dare say that was a good press conference.
