Whichever one gets me off the Kings

He'll do one of two things sooner or later:
state an intention to sign our offer sheet, or sign a contract with the Kings that is similar to ours, if they decide to offer him the same money.

quote:First off, he may never sign an offer sheet (as could be a S&T). Secondly, he has had the offer since 12:01 the first day of free agency and has completed his visits from other teams. Meanwhile, we are being strung along while other FAs are agreeing to sign with other teams. If he doesn't want to come to NOLA, let's move on.
He can't even sign an offer sheet until the 10th so why commit yourself to something? Anyone else in his shoes would continue to see if there are better deals to be had.

He has a good agent. Wouldn't you want to make as much money as possible?

He's got till the 10th so it really doesn't matter to him.
His situation might get even better if Howard makes a decision any time soon. All of those teams with cap space that missed out might decided "frick it" and throw a ridiculous deal at Reke.

First off, I know that. And nothing in my response indicated otherwise. Second, it's irrelevant. Nothing can happen between now and the tenth. Also have you considered the fact that maybe the guy is genuinely conflicted? Or perhaps he's not in a hurry to accept because of the possibility the Kings and Pelicans might be discussing a sign and trade?
But to draw an inference from his silence that he doesn't want to be here and the team should just 'move on' is absurd.

Agreed.
If we pulled our offer and "moved on" now, it would be as bad as what the Kings did to Iggy.
Considering the problems that we already have as a small market with a losing team, vs. a big market or one known as a contender, we can't really do that.

@skooks: If you're watching the Tyreke Evans deal remember he's not officially a Pelican until Fletcher Mackel has hypothetically traded him 7 times.

quote:Your comment said he cannot sign an offer sheet until the 10th. There have been reports he wants to stay in Sac. There have been reports he has shopped our offer to teams that were not even really interested in him. He has shopped it back to Sac. Other than Howard (the #1 FA), I have not seen another FA reported to be sitting on offers this long. I hope the only holdup is that they are discussing a S&T, as I would hate to see us get screwed in FA while we wait on him. The 10th is just the day the transactions can get recorded. Most of the big names are agreed upon well before then.

Just hope the kings dont match

at worst, we give them GV or Roberts. i'd rather them go elsewhere to maximize getting picks or maybe a decent SF from elsewhere. but at least it's looking more like he will be here

Hopefully the Kings don't do like we did last year and ignore that he wants to get out
