Our bad luck started when we got a mod on this board

We were riding high as an organization, thriving in the wild wild west of Pels talk. I contend that we angered the basketball Gods when we tried to reign in the sons.
The only thing that we can do now is sacrifice Jaxson Hayes to appease the basketball Gods!

there's been bad and good luck all along.
was it not good luck that zion pick #1 fell to new orleans?
it was very bad luck that there was no one healthy and obvious at 4 when 4 became hayes at 8.
(as I saw it at the time it was a reach of epic proportions to take hayes at all).

Jaxson has been one of the few bright spots over this losing stretch, his defense has improved vastly and you can’t teach the athleticism and anticipation he has. I pray we resign him for cheap and get him significant run with the big 3 (assuming they are ever healthy)

Does this every year though, and even still it’s with some asterisks. As somehow his already poor rebounding has managed to get worse. Over this little stretch with bumped minutes he’s averaging per 100 possessions only like .5 more boards per game than Cj McCollum. And he basically just doesn’t box out, ever.

I saw him box out in his 2nd or 3rd game of getting minutes. I posted about it in the game thread it was so out of character. I don't think I've seen it happen again.
The part that doesn't make sense is he's not afraid of contact like Davis was/is. Jaxson needs some old school coaching. He briefly looked like he had turned a corner with Steven Adams mentoring him and that was his best rebounding season. They need to send him to a boot camp this summer where all he does is box out and play physical.
I think I'm done with Jaxson though. He's said he sees himself as a 4, he's not going to do what we need him to do with that attitude.
