Tired of reading that nonsense on this board. If we fire Monty and then win 55 games, I think AD will be just fine.

Monty is an absolute moron.

What if we keep Monty and win 55 games because we stay healthy?

TD reasoning would be that, but for Monty, the team would have won 65.

TD is pretty smart, he's really a bottom tier coach.

I'm an idiot then. Players are upset when coaches they like are fired. They are also upset when players they are friends with are traded or not resigned. It doesn't mean you don't fire the coach, it just means you take it under consideration. Or you just don't make a move, to make a move. There needs to be a clear reason and have total support of the entire organization.

I think Williams deserves one more season. He met expectations this season (over .500, made the playoffs). Sure he could be better, but so could every other coach in the league. I just don't want to be like the Clippers. Have a young, improving coach that is kind of cheap. Fire him and replace him with a more proven coach. Pay that new coach 5x more than the young coach. Then find out that the new coach isn't that great of an improvement. It's a player's league. Coaches just don't make that big of a difference..

sorry it wasn't an ESPN article, it was this one LINK

quote:

“Whatever (General Manager Dell Demps and coach Monty Williams) do, I’m going to be supportive,” said Davis, an All-Star starter who just completed his third season. “We’re all men. If I see something as the leader and the franchise player, I got to go to them and say, ‘Let’s do this or do that.’ And they come to me like, ‘Well, AD,’ or whatever. That’s how it works. We have to work hand-in-hand to try to make this thing go.”

quote:

“He’s a great coach,” Davis said when asked if he’d like to see Williams return. “The whole team loves him, the organization loves him. …. He’s done a lot for the organization since he’s been here. Those guys have meant a lot. At the end of the day, Coach always says, ‘It’s a business. Whether I’m here, you’re here, whether anybody’s here, it’s a business.’

Bit of a stretch there, purplpylon. But who knows.

Monty isnt going anywhere and you know it. He's obviously good enough to get into the playoffs in the West. However, he does suck, bad.

Year of the 4th quarter collapses.

Scott Brooks was also good enough to get his team to the finals. Or was it simply his team was good enough to get there despite him being the coach?

Mark Jackson was good enough to get golden state 50+ wins ad well. The fact is, there are many coaches thay can get them to the playoffs. Which coach can get you to the ring?

+1

And nobody fricking cares that Monty made the playoffs in the West. More than half of the teams made it in the West. With AD, you have a chance to WIN THE WHOLE frickING LEAGUE but are squandering it with an average coach.

I remember when people wanted to keep Jim Haslett around as the Saints head coach. After all, he did win us our first playoff game.

Not me, hoss.

I'm not really a Monty fan, but I'm not going apeshit if he's give another year.
