4 years/$48 million isn't a right now move. That actually crosses over the time period in which you'd need to resign Davis, Anderson, Gordon, and Rivers. You're painting yourself into a corner where you are essentially choosing your 3rd big over 1 of your projected starting guards.

I agree we would benefit from his skills, but the price has to be right. He could become our new Okafor.

Looking way ahead here, but if Gordon still wants to go to PHO, a trade involving him and Gortat may be something the FO looks at.
PHO was reportedly shopping Gortat before the break.

Twolves dont want to give him 12mil a year but with what he brings and the toughness we need at the center position, us paying him that much makes complete sense.
I disagree. $12M a year for a solid center was common under the old CBA, but that could turn into a downright terrible contract under the new rules. It's definitely a little more than I'd want to spend over 4 years.

Gortat only has one year left then becomes unrestricted. That would be a concern.

I thought he signed a 4 year deal in the offseason. Whoops.

Then why would they amnesty Gasol just for the hell of it

Coach doesn't like him, and I doubt anyone will trade for him, although i think he will be an expiring contract next season, so ehhh...
And of course the 4 yrs/$48 million is just an estimate on my part of his value. Obviously it could be different/less.

I dont know if Pekovic is a good fit for $12mil per.
Unless they plan on moving Ryno for help, Davis/Anderson is your crunch time frontcourt. Pekovic is too good to be sitting. Same problem they have if they bring in Smith or Al Jefferson.
I know I will get slammed for this, but I would rather see them make a play for a guy like Deandre Jordan. Offensively, he is strictly a dive man/garbage man. But he is a great rebounder and rim protector. He and Davis would have some fit problems on offense as Davis grows , but he complements Ryno well IMO. He doesnt need crunch time minutes either.
Yes he is overpaid, but he comes off the books in 2015 giving the team space to adjust the roster

I don't see Davis ever playing center, at least not in the near future
He's barely holding up at PF right now. Its gonna be years before he bulks up enough to bang around with PFs in the league, much less centers.

The need for Anderson on the court in crunch time greatly diminishes if Gordon is actually healthy, if we add a competent 3 who can shoot, and AD grows into the player we expect.
Deandre Jordan... Man, where to start
Pekovic would be "overpaid", but deservedly so. There are like 5 or 6 complete centers in the NBA. The dude is really good

$10mil a year for 8pts/7rebs/1.4blks and 42%FT is a steal

+1
This team is soft down low.
...need a good defender and rebounder who won't need 35 MPG.
I like Gortat, too...great pick and roll player. gives you points and rebounds...I wonder what his next contract will look like?

Id rather just keep the $5m a year for 11/5/1.6/56%/76%.
Or we can spend about $10m a year on Serbian Shaq for 16/9/1/51%/73%

With the way Davis is developing his jumpers, it might not be as bad as you think. Yeah, Davis does a lot of his work on cuts (which is basically the extent of Jordan's offense), but you could probably design an offense that utilizes them both to stretch and collapse the defense.

27 isn't in the "only" range, in my opinion. His being a bulky center will probably start to wear down his knees a little earlier than most. That would be my only big concern with bringing Pek in on a big deal. He is going to start tailing off. The $1M questions are "How soon?" and "How steep?"

That sent me on a tangent. I wanted to look at Shaq's career around that age and my eyes bulged. I had somehow forgotten how damn dominant Shaq was in his prime and how much he got robbed in MVP voting. After winning his only MVP in 2000, he put up 28.7 pts, 12.7 rbs, 3.7 asts, and 2 blocks and they gave the award to Allen Iverson who only shot 32% from range.

Pek has had a few injuries. Which is why they think he wont get the contract he wants.
We shall see. He really hasnt even been linked to the Pels other than by the twitter guys
