The hard part is finding someone willing to take that on, and might cost us assets.
id rather just keep CJ if that’s the case.

That's simple elementary stuff. Not sure how you aren't getting that.

b/c that's not how it works for a team like us in the position we are in right now. Not sure why you can't understand that. Why on earth would you think we would ever have cap space to use, and even if we did, who the hell you think we are signing in FA to come here?

ok. so you just lost a 40% 3 point shooter that can get his own shot for nothing? Sounds like a sound business decision. Did you do the same with JV, replaced him with expiring bigs?

SO you want to create cap space by losing players for nothing with the expectation you're going to sign some big name FA?

Do you realize that we will have $100M in contracts for the 2025 season with just 7 guys, not including JV, Herb, CJ? Granted Herb's cap hold won't be much at all, but
I can guarantee you we aren't going to just let guys go like JV and CJ and not get something back for them, b/c we will never have an effective cap space that we can use on a FA, and even if we did, who are you expecting to come sign and play here for big money?

That's the biggest reason why we will never have cap space. We aren't attracting big name FA's to come here. We increase our talent level of our team through the draft and trades, not FA, so there's no reason whatsoever to have cap space, especially when you already have 2 max contracts on your roster.

We are going to need to manage being in the tax when we start giving out bigger contracts to our players. CJ just won't fit.

And this is what Teddy keeps missing. It's not about having cap space, but managing being in the tax.

Now is the time to trade CJ. Houston has cap space to absorb his contract and they have a need.

I am a big fan of Hawkins. He is great motion shooter coming off screens. His game reminds you of Redick and Clay. His is a skilled player with strong fundamentals and bbiq. Because of his constant motion, defensive will have a more difficult time doubling Z or BI.
Hawk is more advanced and will have a greater impact in his rookie year than TM3.

You want to trade the only other guy besides BI who can create his own shot from anywhere on the court? Doesn’t seem smart.
