Similar to the days when people thought where Greg Oden signed was important.

Nope. Check the PelicansReport board. It was over 50 pages. I'm sure it was similar here

Nah.

Were there people hoping we could sign him on the cheap with the unrealistic hope that his knees miraculously regenerated cartilage? Sure.

Were there people thinking AD and Oden would instantly be kicking arse and taking names? Not really.

I just wish the trade deadline would hurry up. This team as constructed is 10th best in the West. If the Clippers and the Jazz were healthy I don't see us being in the 8.

Doesn't Cunningham have to give consent to be traded or is that an error on ESPN trade machine?

Do you think someone like Malcolm Delaney or Shelvin Mack is an upgrade on Rondo or Nelson? Two teams I think would be willing to take Asik or Ajinca.

Both are not killing this year in poor Atlanta team.
Prrsonally I think that Mack might be an upgrade.

Dont expect trade now. Rather close to the deadline.

Last year at that time we were willing to trade Okafor for first rounder(s) or Howard for two first rounders (one for Asik's dump).
Just wait.

I'm too impatient. Not much to be excited about with this team, but the unknown has me intrigued entering the deadline.

Why don't you post on Pelicans report anymore?

I think for them to bench Nelson or take significant minutes away from Rondo, they need to get a guy who is a CLEAR upgrade. Not a Shelvin Mack type.

I would be looking at guard but wvwry name I have heard batted around so far was a forward or a big.

or maybe we're really a 5th seed and injuries have held us back (Hill out, Rondo missed most of start of year, AD and his aches and pains every other game)

I was thinking about Mack as a throw-in in a deal. Not as a target.

Aussie -the level of discussion is different here. Also dont have Time for both.

I am also impatient. But in this sport it is better to wait for an occasion. See Boogie last year...

To me, I don't want a throw in if he's not gonna play.

I think you need to find your 8 and just go with those guys. When you got 6 or 7 guys that are clearly in your rotation and then the next 4 or 5 guys are all kind of equal, that messes you up. You keep tinkering and pulling this guy while he's cold for that guy who is hot now but then goes cold and you go back and forth.

When Hill comes back, I think they have a definite 7. Need one more for the playoffs. And that guy has to be CLEARLY better than Nelson, Clark, Allen, and Cunningham. Not just another version of a guy in their class.

I would not trade for any type of guard unless he is a clear upgrade at either the 1 or 3, and i'd like it to be the 1.

The most ideal trade partner is Brooklyn. Try to get Dinwiddie from them, and try to get rid of Ajinca. Just going to have to stretch Asik next year to stay under the tax, which i'm fine with. They have enough cap space to make Ajinca for Dinwidde straight up to work, and it saves us $3.4M next year.
I do not want Carroll from them.

Other than Brooklyn, Atlanta is a place to dump Ajinca or Asik, as well as maybe Orlando.

I'd love Fournier, but i just don't think we have the assets to get him.

I still say they should be calling Charlotte and trying their hardest to get Kemba from them. 2 firsts, Diallo, Jackson and Asik works great. They've been on a steady decline, are right at the tax with no worth while expirings, so they are in a shitty place. Kemba could make us a contender.

Kemba needs the ball in his hands and we have enough of those in jrue cousins and AD...we need a player like Klay

Jrue doesn't need the ball in his hands. He needs someone else to have the ball in his hands, which is why he's been moved to SG.
Cousins does not need the ball in his hands, evident by him leading the league in turnovers.
AD has never needed the ball in his hands.

We need a guard who actually wants to have the ball in his hands at the end of games, and can actually make a play and not turn it over, b/c we have no one on our team capable of that on a consistent basis.
