The Timberwolves won, New York is 4th and making the pick available, and that's where the possible implications start. First the draft order:

1 Minnesota Timberwolves
2 Los Angeles Lakers
3 Philadelphia 76ers
4 New York Knicks
5 Orlando Magic
6 Sacramento Kings
7 Denver Nuggets
8 Detroit Pistons
9 Charlotte Hornets
10 Miami Heat
11 Indiana Pacers
12 Utah Jazz
13 Phoenix Suns
14 Oklahoma City Thunder

People already are speculating Durant to the Knicks, and if OKC thinks they've blown it with KD the earlier they cash out the better. And if you're cashing out KD, why not trade Westbrook to the Lakers for #2 and Randle? (Randle is expendable because no doubt they think they can get Love if they got Westbrook) Go for a full rebuild with your new college coach.

so what are the odds we find ourselves getting a first round draft pick this year, or at least being part of a trade?

I don't know. I think if Sacramento were at 10 instead of 6 you might have been able to do a Ryno based deal for the pick and a bad contract like Jason Thompson, but 6 is too high for that. Is there anyone worth Ryno + 2016 1st for #6 and Jason Thompson? Although that's also based on what they were looking for before they hired Karl (stretch 4 to put next to Cousins), not sure how Karl changes things.

Tyreke is productive and talented enough to net a mid 1st, but what teams need him is a question. Maybe Milwaukee at 17? I'm not sure I see a good trade to use him like George Hill and get our Kawhi Leonard (is there even a mid teens Leonard type in the draft?)

this is exciting stuff. one of many reasons that make the NBA so great.

durant to NYC i would think makes them an instant contender, right? Does Melo stick around?

westbrook to Lakers is scary both for LA and the league.

I wouldn't give up Tyreke for a pick at 17. just way to risky of a pick to think you will get anything close to Tyreke.

I wouldn't mind finding a way to get Justin Anderson, just not sure if i'd give up a guy like Tyreke for him. I'd give up Ryno for him, if i didn't think i could use Ryno in a trade somewhere else to get an upgrade.

Both of these are positive for the Pels.

Unless of course the lakers go all in and bring in Love to team up with RW.

Why would the Thunder trade for Randle when they have Ibaka?

They just traded for Kanter, they have a superstar PG, last year's MVP, not to mention Ibaka and as good of a bench as they've had in the last few years (minus Harden, obv). They would be dumb as hell to throw it all away and start over unless they knew for sure that KD was moving on, and he has not said that yet.

Also I don't think Billy D signed up for a complete rebuild.

All caps, an exclamation mark and the fact I've seen his name before despite not paying any attention to this draft says that Ryno and a 2016 1st probably isn't enough. Again, had Sac fallen to 10 or so maybe we could have made something happen. Although he is a SF and they do already have Gay.

Justise Winslow is my favorite player in the draft. Built like a brick shithouse, good defender and hit 41% of his threes

That was the other thing they wanted, either a stretch 4 or rim protector next to Cousins. Although Karl is in Win Now mode and Jason Thompson is a bad contract that has asked to be traded, so maybe Ryno would appeal to them.

Considering the ownership mandate on pace and offense, I doubt they take Asik over Cauley Stein, which is what you'd be asking them to do. Not to mention depending on what they do with Derrick Williams, they might have the cap space to sign him on their own.

It probably wont happen, but Id love to try into the back of the first round. And take Jarell Martin.

Hes going to be a very good role player in the league imo.

I think so as well. Once he trims down a bit to become more explosive as an athlete helping his defense/driving to the lane and perfects that shot... he will be a perfect small forward in this league.

It's been a long time since we've seen some Lakers larceny in the trade market. I'm expecting a good bit of that the next 2 offseasons.
Clippers just aren't the same...
