re: Monty's coaching

I remember when we won the lottery and people like Michael Wilbon and Jalen Rose (just to name a couple) were ranting and raving on how Monty was a great coach. And I'm wondering to myself, why? What has he done?
You watch this dude consistently get out coached in 2 nd halves, his rotations are turrible, and sometimes everybody and their grandma is yelling for him to call a timeout and 6 pts later he finally takes one.
I'm tired of all the " we're a young team. This player is hurt. This player needs more time" . Every coach deals with adversity.
I'm tired of all this woe is Monty. I'm glad to see more people not giving him a pass.

This game was winnable though. This and the Golden State and Spurs games were all winnable. And we probably win them if Monty just plays the starters 4 more minutes
We outscored the Lakers in the 3rd and 4th quarter. We had 1 bad quarter in the 2nd and that proved to be too much to overcome.
Some guys on here sure know how to overreact. Monty is still a young coach with a young team. Both have potential to be really good and grow together.

No Earthworm, don't you get it? There's no room for improvement, stasis is the only option.

Lol, how'd I know you'd be on here stinking it up? Shame.

Good to see you too, sweetie.

I see you're still wearing your Monty underoos.

Even though he will, I kinda agree...what has he done in this league that makes anyone think he's legit head coach?

The young team and rebuilding can not always be the excuse. Monty's coaching is terrible. He clears the bench in the third and early fourth then leaves rivers in and Davis never touches the floor in the 4th. He is also a terrible offense coach, half the time I have no clue what he is trying to accomplish on that end.
Thoughts?
Can't always be the excuse but it can be the actual explanation when it applies. About 25% of the cap is being spent on dead money. Two players getting minutes are one and done rookies. Most of the team that actually gets minutes have only played together this year (GV and Aminu played a good bit last year . . . the worst scores in the top 6 minute getters).
Davis is on minute limitations (clearly) after being injured earlier this season and there is a potential for aggravation of that. When he played significant minutes after his return (so late December), he played poorly. Now, he's playing better but in limited minutes.
So they are taking care with both injured stars. Sounds like a good coach and some good medical advice being followed.
Even if Monty is great or horrible, how could you tell with all that going on?
Trying to accomplish . . . hmmm . . . ball in hole?

So why does Monty choose to limit his minutes in the 4th qtr when the game is on the line? Clearly he belongs on the court. He may not be a go to option offensively, but he can get clutch put backs. He affects the game on the defensive end obviously.
You wanna limit his minutes, fine, don't do it in the 4th quarter.

Yeah, Monty and the whole staff/FO really was chosen to develop talent. Whether or not they are the ones that take this team to contention is a question that still needs to be answered. But this season really isn't the season to make that judgement. It probably will be the 2014-15 season before enough pieces are in place to blame losses on Monty. Hopefully by then he'll have improved and maybe hired another up and coming boy genius like Malone.

It must be something more important than winning any particular game, right?

You play to win the game, HELLO?
In all seriousness, that doesn't make sense to me. Why choose to sit your franchise player (or at least a huge piece) in crunch time? Pull him out earlier in the 1st or 3rd qtr if you wanna limit his mins. We need him out there, if for any reason, to gain confidence in crunch time. He's a game changer. If we have any chance for future success, AD needs to be on the floor when the game is on the line, PERIOD.
