If the Grizz pass on him that really makes the Knicks trade a lot more interesting...I kind of like the idea of the three-way to get Blake and #3. Don't know why those teams do it, but if it were to fall that way that would be a nice scenario

Ja
Jrue
Hustle
Blake
Zion

Not a bad starting 5

I’m sure the Knicks writers would love to believe that

I’m thinking they see a trade possibility but I don’t see what they get out of this that really helps them.

Phoenix and Chicago would both be interested but the drop from 2 to 6-7 is pretty damn big in this draft.

The Lakers could be interested in jumping but their main trade chit would be Lonzo, who lost his shite at the possibility of going to New Orleans. Memphis is a far worse destination.

Theoretically the Knicks could flip picks but what would they give up to do so?

If they're looking to trade down then it's not really the drop from 2 vs 6-7 that you need to look at.

It's is there a difference in dropping to 4 or 6-7.

If they have a group of guys rated similarly then it might not matter to them if they drop to 6-7 if the return is better.

This seems like potential misinformation or posturing but if it were true and someone was able to trade up to 2, it would have to put them in the driver's seat for AD.

I didn't know Morant is having knee surgery.

Maybe his stock is dropping

How much better can the return from the Suns or Bulls be than from the Lakers?

This assumes that the Lakers don’t try to lowball Memphis, which is chancy between their interest in AD and Pelinka being an a-hole.

We like this narrative. No way it can be false

The surgery is cleanup on crap in his knee, nothing structural IIRC.

This would work after the draft, but who says no?

Knicks get: AD

Pels get: Avery Bradley, CJ Miles, Mitchell Robinson, #2 (Ja Morant), Dallas 2021 1st, and Dallas 2023 1st

Grizz get: #3 (RJ Barrett), Kevin Knox, Frank Ntilkina, DSJ, Lance Thomas, Wash 2020 2nd, Mil 2020 2nd

Mac's tweet makes it sound like maybe this isn't just posturing:

Many of us like Ja Morant more than NBA teams. I was told several like Culver more than him and not everyone has him as the #1 PG

All the New York reports are citing an ESPN story from the Draft Express guys, Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz. LINK I don't have Insider so I can't tell the context, but this kind of stuff usually leaks for a reason. I would bet that reason is Memphis is asking for someone to change their mind with a trade. I don't think this would be a case of Memphis picking Barrett, a player that's trying to avoid Memphis hard, at #2. I think they are looking to be convinced by the Pels/Knicks to swap #2 with #3.

I have no idea. I'm just saying the drop doesn't matter as much if they don't have a specific target.

They may like ATL 8 & 10 because they have 8 guys that they have no preference on after the top 2.

I’d have to parse it deeper but I don’t want to give up the Washington 2nd nor take on Bradley.

Bradley actively made the Clip Show worse last season until he got shipped out. And Washington’s 2020 second is likely to be at or near the top of the 2nd next year.
