Pretty solid 3 way there. I’d even take that 34th and flip it back towards Portland if something that insignificant was holding up the deal.
If I’ve decided on my end that I definitely do want Scoot and I definitely don’t want Zion anymore. Would be foolish to blow the trade up over marginal compensation at that point.
This deal is really good for Charlotte considering they can just take Miller at 2 and not get all the extras included.
That’s why I’d still be trying to include them in a 3 way if a 2 way w Portland is getting tripped up on the 2 yard line. Gives you some more flexibility to maybe get it done.

New Orleans gets Scoot Henderson, Portland's 23rd overall pick and Charlotte's 34th overall pick.
Thats not enough for Griff to trade Zion

In all honesty with about 24 hours left, if this was a possibility it would have happened.
No trade would be announced before the pick was made.
Can’t trade Scoot to us if Charlotte pulls a fast one and either takes him or trades out to someone who takes him.

Might be enough for Griff. He’s the one who has had to deal w Zion and his camp for 4 years.
He is operating with the full deck of information regarding Zion’s health, habits, etc.
So if he pulls the trigger on something like that, I won’t be mad at all. I’ll just assume the last 4 years have been terrible behind closed doors.
And that the Pelicans believe that Scoot can have more of a positive impact on the franchise.

If it was going to be a 3 way trade it honestly wouldn’t matter to wait.

I think its more about portland wanting more. I think we feel Zion should get us more, I think it’s honestly other way around. I honestly think they want more than Zion due to his injuries.

The way I look at it at this point, one of the best abilities for a star player for us is “availability”. Because we haven’t had that with Zion or AD.
If Scoot has his shite together to learn and can stay healthy, I think it helps us more than having Zion for 30 games a season.

It absolutely would not be. You haven’t paid attention to the last two big trades Griff made if you think he will take half of Zion’s worth

Sometimes that backfires.
If Charlotte takes Scoot and asks too much for him, the trade collapses and everyone else moves on. Would not be the first time that happened.
IIRC, the Bulls ended up with Marcus Fizer in 2000 despite having spent a high pick a year earlier on Elton Brand. Word is that a trade was supposed to take place, likely moving Brand, that fell through so they had too many 4s.

I think there is a possibility that Griff regrets the Jrue trade. We got a bunch of scratch off lotto ticket picks and we have already at least used 1 of them to get Steven Adams and then we used another pick to ladder out of Steven Adams and Bledsoe.
The Jrue Trade that we completely whiffed on was with Atlanta. And it’s not exactly hindsight bc a lot of people on this board were interested in getting pick 6 as a centerpiece for Jrue.
Rumored that they would’ve given us pick 6 and Huerter (and maybe more)
Tyrese Halliburton went pick 12 in that draft. We got stuck w Kira at 13.
Would you rather have Hali right now or some random Bucks picks that may never be anything?
Atlanta proved their interest in a Jrue like guard 1 year later when they traded for Dejounte Murray, so I tend to believe the trade rumors between us a couple years ago. So I say all of that to say, I don’t know if Griffin goes pure draft pick haul for Zion.
We have a relatively deep team. Get the guy you think will be an all star if you have to trade your all star. Scoot might be that guy for Griff.

My gut tells me charlotte is not involved in any of this. They wish they were but they’re not. I think both pels/blazers are daring them, like you said with Fizer, to take Scoot. I dont think they will.

I’m not saying Griff wouldn’t trade Zion for Scoot, but it will be for more than just Scoot. Sharpe and future picks would also have to be on the table.

I think thats the dilemma and maybe Dame says frick yall put in sharpe and get this done lol

We can definitely toss them Kira if they need an extra guard after trading Simons and Sharpe and not drafting Scoot
Lol
