No because we have Trey Murphy who is better. Markkanen is soft on D and all he does is shoot. Trey is developing an all around game and he’s just as long as Markkanen.
bad take

It doesn’t matter anyway. Jazz want like 5 first round picks for him. I think he’d be perfect on the Thunder.

It was one of the easiest game winning shots I’ve ever seen. Just a clear path straight to the basket

Ja should’ve been doubled for sure, but he had one of the best perimeter defenders in the league on him, and even though Herb got beat, he was a legitimate fingertip from blocking the shot.

In what world is that one of the easiest game winners ever lol. Ja is just really good and made a good play

Am I insane to think Lauri is fair value for Zion?

Yes

Or am I insane to think that Utah would accept Zion for Lauri?

Danny Ainge would run away laughing if you ever were dumb enough to offer this.

In your opinion what makes Zion a far better value than Lauri?

Lauri is 5 inches taller, rebounds better, is historically more available to play games, has zero off court issues, is consistently well conditioned, and shoots 8 threes a game at an efficient clip. (Volume of 3’s taken is also something this board is obsessed with. Flipping Zion for Lauri solves that issue.)

You are acting like he’s a bonafide scrub lol

I get the argument for Zion, but I think it’s a legit argument between the 2. And I do think Lauri would be a solid fit for this team on and off the court. Euro’s also typically love and appreciate the City of New Orleans.

Would Utah do Zion for Lauri essentially straight up, plus whatever salaries are needed to match? Because, if so, that’s pretty much a no brainer for the Pels And to think, at one point, we could’ve probably traded an expiring Lonzo Ball for Lauri, lol.

I’ve gotten shite on here multiple times for saying we should have traded for Lauri and now y’all want to trade him straight up for Zion? Thats freaking wild lol.

To be fair, I wasn’t one of those to give you shite and I’ve consistently said we should trade Zion. His value has just gotten lower and lower, so my targets have gotten lower and lower.

My offseason trade target for Zion was Alperen Sengun. That’s over now, that everyone understands that he is the next Jokic. Now I’m down to guys like Lauri and Cade Cunningham since Zion has been such a stinker this season.

Just to clarify, are you suggesting Sengun is the next Nikola Jokic??

Yes, I’ve been on that train since 4 months before the 2021 draft. Sabonis floor and Jokic ceiling. My thesis is playing out very well as of now. He’s about 1-2 years ahead of the roadmap I visualized. I was devastated when he went 1 pick in front of us at #16. He’s a true star to build a franchise around.

Lauri would be the ideal return player, and Zion should be the one traded. I don't think Ainge/Jazz would want the Zion risk on a rebuilding team, so a third team would be involved to take Z.

Example:

Lauri and Sexton to Pels

Zion to Bulls

PatWilliams, Ayo, Terry, Ball, unprotected CHI picks and swaps to Jazz

Pels move on from the inconsistent Zion drama, reset with a core of Ingram, Lauri, Trey, Dyson, Herb, with steady vets in CJ and JV.

Bulls take a swing at star potential now that they've turned a corner with recent play. They have a 'stretch 5' to match Zion's skillset, and Caruso and White are nice guards around him. They still trade LaVine for anything, and DeRozan can be traded or re-signed.

Jazz would really have to like Patrick Williams and the future CHI picks to beat out other potential offers for Markkanen. It's even possible that Pels would have to add assets (Hawkins/pick) to push the deal through. Other variations of the deal could be taking Lavine and shedding Collins.

JV / Nance/ Zeller
Lauri/ Trey
Ingram/ Dyson
Herb/ Hawkins
CJ/ Sexton/ Jose
