The Celtics are trading Kemba Walker, the No. 16 overall pick in the 2021 draft and a 2025 second-round draft pick to Oklahoma City for Al Horford, Moses Brown and a 2023 second-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

OKC racks up more picks

Imagine Boston, lost Horford for nothing because they didn't want to pay him 20 million a year, then burned a first round pick to pay him 27 million a year

First move by Brad Stevens. 3 picks for OKC this year I think.

Did they even save money in this deal? Maybe a year off contract but still that’s not a great deal. They should’ve never signed Kemba to that deal in the first place

Trades are allowed in the middle of the playoffs?

I would’ve absolutely moved adams, a second and Didi for Kemba and a first.

It won't be official until the new league year I'm assuming.

Remember when everyone made fun of Charlotte for not keeping their star?

MJ might be trending upwards with recent moves.

I wouldn’t. If you do this, you’re paying Walker 37 million next year and the year after..

Boston wouldn't have done that, and we couldn't because we would have the cap space to take on the extra money

That’s not really relevant. If you think we’d be gaining a significant player in an position we need, it’s a gamble that can still pay off.

It’s partly why I think we should be looking hard at Pascal Siakam. He’s worth a lot. But he does things we need on offense and especially defense. He could be our small ball center and still be able to switch onto perimeter guys and fluster them. And having Ingram and Zion means he’s not being asked to be Kawhi. He was a solid enough catch and shooter back in ‘19.

How many picks total do they have now lol? They make our "warchest" look like a little bitch

OKC is the absolute masters of taking on salary for a pick, rehabbing that player, and then getting a pick when they move him. It really is a thing of beauty.

They are totally owning The Process style tank.

However...at some point you have to start moving those assets and actually try to win.

Also, at some point, SGA is just not going to be happy with always sucking.

I think they will move him at some point as well.

I agree with you if we are gaining a significant player. But Walker isn’t going to help this team. Siakam is way different than Walker.

Thing with them is, I don't see anyone that would want to go there that they could move them for. I think Presti is just accumulating picks hoping he hits on a couple of them, but then their other problem comes from the roster spots for all these guys.

Right exactly. It is impossible to use all of their picks on actual players.

They will have to keep pushing them down the line by moving now picks for future picks, trade some of them for players, etc.

I also don’t mind giving up picks for Dort if they want more firsts.

They can buy a Euro team and just draft and stash a bunch of Euros.

OKC having as many picks as they do is another reason why we need to try and start using the warchest sooner rather than later (assuming a star becomes available of course). We really don't want to get into a bidding war with the when they're ready to start competing. They're the one team that can be like "oh Griffin offered you four firsts? How does seven sound?".
