Let's play the classics to start the season sons

quote:

New Orleans Pelicans guard Jose Alvarado, who suffered a right ankle sprain during an offseason workout, recently reported discomfort in his injured ankle during his return to play program. He was re-evaluated yesterday by Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, North Carolina. Alvarado will continue his rehabilitation program and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Only the Pelicans can have a guy sit out national team duty to fully be ready for the regular season, then get injured training.

Assuming this is a high ankle sprain, he's not going to be 100% even when he comes back.

Our defense is about to be abysmal.

The team really needs to retire the two weeks thing

REEVALUATED in 2 weeks.

He was injured I believe 5 weeks ago today.

So that's 7 weeks before he's even revaluated, for an ankle sprain.

So likely at least 8-10 weeks for him to play total.

Unreal

Yeah what’s concerning to me is hopefully this is not a bigger issue where 2 weeks turns into surgery. He shouldn’t be having pain this long after injury.

We were a top defensive team even when he was out. So this statement completely doesn’t make sense.

In fairness, he basically re-injured it recently apparently.

From the press release, it does not sound like this additional 2 week eval is expected as part of the process. It seems like it's added due to the new injury/discomfort.

Our defense has been decidedly better when he's on the court for both of his seasons thus far vs off court.

- honestly this what scares me. Why are players getting injured trying to come back? Happened to Zion last season too. Its troubling that this keeps happening. If he wasn’t ready, he shouldn’t have been cleared for limited practice.

Has it? Dont get me wrong I know Jose makes a big difference but we still finished sixth in defense with Jose missing a majority of the end of the season. Fair notice- I haven’t looked at advanced metrics on this so I could be completely off. But I didn’t feel like our defense took this big dip when he got injured and I love Jose.

Either way, we'll be fine with Dyson, Herb, and Kira in the meantime. I think we'll miss Jose's energy and PG skillset more than his defense early on.

Yup exactly. What we’ll miss is that energy. There’s no one on this roster other than Jose that can bring that energy and pull us back into games. Hes also the only true pg on this team and I hope this doesn’t lead to us playing CJ more on ball- where he constantly struggles.

If Kira wants to stick around the league, now is the opportunity. He needs to step up in Jose's absence
