I kinda feel like he’s more the next Campazzo. Which I’m hella down for.

That seems like a more realistic ceiling than FVV who is sort of a 1 for 1 type success story of 6' and under, 6'1" wingspan guard that is a good defender and top 15 offensive PG.
Jose isnt the shooter of FVV and the sample size still too low to start putting him in that category defensively.

AD says it all the time and i agree with him. The 2nd point guard in our system needs to be a guy who is an absolute pain in the arse to play against. Full court pressure on ball/nagging the ball handler at all times.
I feel like alvarado is the perfect player for this. Could the full court pressure lead to some easy open baskets? Yes. But our second unit defense isn't any better when it's Sato playing half court.
Really miss Kira. He was starting to show some things. Hope his recovery is going well.

Van Fleet was a very capable shooter and scorer in college and when he came into the NBA. It would be asking alot for Alvarado to be as good as Van Fleet, but if he's a poor man's FVF then that's more than good enough for us.

Dont get me wrong, I like Alvarado, and I like how much of a homer AD is for this team. Like, he really seems to enjoy being a part of this franchise and fanbase and that means a lot, but I just think we need to see this play out a bit longer with Jose.
Like, I'm not sure he unseats Kira if both are healthy and developing. And, if we go after someone like CJ or Sexton, we are likely to need a Tyus Jones as that second guard that can organize an offense and pass people open on nights where our non-traditional PG system isn't firing on all cylinders...which has been a problem this season at times.

Amazing how many folks think the Pels need a small PG that can't shoot and is highly suspect on defense. Today's (& even moreso, tomorrow's) NBA is looking for shooters...and more shooters. I don't even wanna think about adding a small PG...unless his name is Chris Paul and he's 5 years younger than Chris Paul.
I like Alvarado, for instance, and he can be useful...but I don't want to see him anywhere near the court for more than a few minutes...when/if the Pels become serious contenders especially come crunch time in a playoff game. (Same for Val...when it comes to crunch time but I've probably already made enough enemies on my Jose "take", so just ignore what I said about Val)

Agreed. Fvv is underrated on here.

Agreed. Heard a discussion recently as to whether or not Jose should be a starter and justified by extrapolating his numbers over 36 minutes.
I think Jose is best used as he is being used now in short spurts where he can go full out 100 miles and hour and bring quick energy. I think that likely wanes if you play him more minutes than he is now.
