Told him to take some aspirin twice on the play were he bumped heads on a board but caused a turnover.

Seems like a pretty standard basketball play to me. It wasn't like Pierre Thomas getting knocked out against SF in the 2011 playoffs.

Am I the only one who thinks he should have manned up a bit, called a timeout, then hit the deck. Pretty sure Joel thought so.

He could have held on and called time out.. You have to push past the pain and mission / team first. Then get medical care

Hard to do that if you're concussed

He wasn't knocked out cold, he could have held on and called TO. .

I'll give him a pass on this one. He got hit in the temple. I think Joel was out of line with his aspirin comment. A serious concussion can be a life changing injury.

I don't think the aspirin comment was meant to belittle the injury. More like "find a way to get back in the game, we need you"

This isn't a back bruise or a shoulder bruise. He should've left that comment to himself.

I've had two.

I played anyway. I didn't end up playing college because of it, but still.

He just has too many of these moments. I wish he were tougher.

This has nothing to do with being tough

Based on this, how can you say you wish he was tougher and would play through it?

I'm one of the harder people on AD for toughness, but I'm not gonna lay into him for a head injury. I've had at least 3 concussions and I don't wish them on anyone.
Brain injuries affect everyone differently so a simple elbow to a head from a 225 lb dude could be career changing and/or life altering. We should all be praying for the guy, not hating on him for his injuring giving up 2 points in a game that 240 points is going to be scored in.

I at least tried to.

Concussions in football are a more serious issue too. Happens more frequently than in basketball.

I dunno. With him officially having a concussion I'll apologize and say this is actually an understandable case.

What's more important at this moment, winning this 1 game, or AD's long term health?

If this were a playoff game and we knew for sure he wasn't totally out of it or not totally immobilized from any kind of injury, I'd say ok let's see if he can get back out there.

Was wrong of me to say it because I guess I assumed it was one of those subtle injuries that happen to him so often. I didn't think he actually had a concussion. Wrong on my part.

You're right. His long term health is more important.

Well my initial reaction was, "Look, Anyhony is hurt again".
