Jason Kidd may be more of a possibility than we think.

The Bird Writes just wrote an article on his candidacy. It is here:

LINK

In it, they say that Kidd has been mentioned by more than one person in the past day or so for the Pelicans job.

Specifically:

quote:

Clevis Murray
@ClevisMurray
Coaching possibilities:
• Clippers could make a decision this week with Mike Brown as a strong possibility.
• Jason Kidd is a candidate for the Pelicans job.
• Mike D’Antoni is still a candidate for Pacers job. David Joerger’s interview wasn’t impressive.

Clevis Murray writes for The Athletic, Boston.

But much more troubling:

quote:

In addition to Murray’s Tweet, Andrew Lopez brought up Kidd’s name to Sean Fox on Sports Talk 97.7 yesterday when asked about the latest news on New Orleans’ search.

I would say Lopez talking about him makes it a legit possibility.

Obviously it could just be smoke with no flame...but that does worry me a bit.

You really think Jake stopped by just to drop the factoid that Ingram and Kidd share an agent? I found his post very disturbing.

No. Any time Jake pops up and posts something I do tend to think a bit and try and read between the lines to see if anything is there.

I am at about DEFCON 3 right now. If we start to see stories from Shams or Woj about him interviewing, being a legit candidate...full fledged DEFCON 1 melt

Just following from a distance, I felt the whole time that the longer the silence went on the more likely Kidd was a real possibility.

Scary stuff.

I'm going to need someone to post the wolverine meme with Ty Lue in the photograph if Kidd gets hired.

Argh.

The whole coaching search seems depressing to me. It feels the exact opposite of Griff's quote about the Pels being the most attractive job or whatever.

He’s failed twice as a head coach in five years. Can we not be more creative?

I’m becoming a Memphis fan if we hire Kidd.

The Pelicans would never hire a former HC that has failed at multiple spots and was most recently an assistant on the team that won an NBA championship thanks to multiple superstars.

Leaking Kidd out would definitely get the fan base more excited about a Lue hire

Mann the anticipation is killing me. Just pull the trigger and end it already.

In Griff I trust.

I guess.

While i don't want Lue, I wouldn't be upset about hiring him, and i can see a future where he's a good coach for us.

I'll be very disappointed if we hire Kidd.

I’m already preparing my devil’s advocate post in support of the hire. It isn’t easy.

We'll melt, then we'll try to talk ourselves into it like we always do. What you need to get ready is the Official Annual Fire Jason Kidd thread.

I'm already doing that right now. He won games! He's won playoff series with multiple teams! He moved Giannis to Point Guard/Forward! He's an all time great PG that could unlock Lonzo!

Will be started on Day 1.

I was listening to the Lopez interview with Sean, and Lopez was very noncommittal to any candidate.. Kidd’s name was mentioned but so were some other candidates. I wouldn’t put too much stake on that interview.
