ESPN sources say Sixers are closing in on the acquisition of Ish Smith via trade with New Orleans.

Thanks for not claiming him in the first place, Philly.

Didn't Ish beg Philly not to pick him up?

Anyway, not surprising that they can't get much for Ish Smith, but not quite sure why they're just cool with doing Philly a favor.

Looks like a Colangelo move, btw. They've drafted these young bigs and have nobody that can get them the ball.

Won't they have to send us a matching contract in return because we're over the cap?

This is an idiotic move if we are committed to running Gentry's system now and in the future. Ish is probably one of the better fits for the system on the team, plus is our best true point guard.

Probably need another 2nd round pick or two for another trade that's in the works. That's the only reason we would do this. 2nd round pick may be more valuable than Ish to a lot of teams.

The Sixers are acquiring guard Ish Smith from the Pelicans for two future second round picks, a source told Yahoo Sports.

Sources confirm the #Pelicans acquired two second round picks from the #Sixers. One in 2016 and one in 2017.

O/U for how long before we trade those picks? 2 weeks.

Lets say we hypothetically keep those picks. What are the odds that we actually draft someone as good as Ish Smith? Hopefully they give us their 2nd's because those picks will be in the 30's.

Imagine if Dell had passed on a guy over the summer, then out of desperation gave up 2 second round picks for him a few months lat...never mind

no he is most definitely not
he's fast, that's it
he played well and netted his team an asset
good for us, good for him, and I hope he does well
