Is Morant for sure the 2nd off the board? Any way we could get a pick that got him for us?

So is it pretty much a done deal on Morant being the second off the board? Is there any scenario that anybody sees us getting a package that would allow us to draft Morant as well if AD can't be convinced to stay? I feel like landing Morant and Zion in a draft would set this franchise up for the next decade or so. Also the whole asking for a trade doesn't happen near as much when you have two superstar caliber players.

If for some reason he is left at the third pick do you guys think the pelicans consider trading AD to New York for that pick and future picks? How would everybody feel about that? I personally would love to see Morant paired with Zion.

Only chance would be if Knicks traded their 3 pick and some assets, like Dallas’s 1st round picks or players, for the 2 pick from Memphis, then we trade AD for that pick + something.

Would essentially require a three-way trade with Memphis. Possible but highly unlikely.

Knicks trade some assets for pick swap(with Memphis), Pels get the rest of the assets when Pels trade AD to Knicks

Ja
Jrue(for now)
Knox
Zion

A Dallas pick, another Knicks Pick, etc.

Memphis is taking Morant. Coming up with ways to get him are a waste of time.

That’s fine.
Plan C is RJ and Zion.

I’m fine with that.

6 years together. Friends, marketing partners (potentially).

Yes. It’s done deal. Don’t waste your time typing the rest of that stuff out

Is it? What advantage did Memphis gain by letting everyone know that they are focused on Ja at #2? Everyone knows the Pels are taking Zion, so Memphis could take whoever they want. It almost smells of a team that could be happy with Ja or just as happy with someone other than Ja, but wants to gauge the trade value. Could the Pels tell the Knicks that they are interested in a deal if the Knicks can turn that #3 into #2? All depends on who the Pels love more out of Ja and RJ.

The more interesting question to me is if the Knicks could somehow get to 2 would you be ok with basically just getting Ja and maybe one other small piece in return for AD. I think it would take almost a godfather deal from NY to get to 2.

Best thing that could possibly happen is they don't really want Morant, but want someone to trade with them so they can get more than Morant. Opening the door for us to snag him...somehow.

But I mean, we got Zion. I'm content with that. Very content.

Well, yeah, but that's also exactly what they would say anyway, realizing that Morant fits with Zion better than RJ does, and that we might be trading AD for a package that includes a pick in the top 4.

Sure glad you’re not the GM. You give up easily.

Instead of trading with NY, no one thinks Memphis would take an offer of Tatum and their own pick back from the Celtics for #2. Then we get to keep the additional assests from them (Smart, Brown, additional FRP) They already have a good pg and may have a hard time trading him with that salary.

As awesome as it is for the Pels to land Zion, the Grizzlies getting Ja is just as big for them too.

They now have Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr together for the next 6-7 years, and that’s scary as frick
