Then ya also realize Ball is 23, has played only 182 games, and is playing for his 3rd coach in 4 years
You seem decidely less bearish on Ball than most. Do you think he'll improve beyond his current 3&D skill set?

He's showing more than just 3&D
right now though. He's showing that he can play in the half court on ball as well as off ball. His mid range off the pick has been money all year and his recent effectiveness on the dribble penetration has been impressive. The layers of his game are unfolding and he has quite a bit of potential. Hell, there's even some off ball movement in space now to get open as well.
Lonzo Ball as a 15ppg scorer is a real thing and could be higher as he hit his prime years. I think Ball will be special once consistency is achieved.

This team needs a reliable D and 3 player.
Can Lonzo be reliable?
Honestly, if we can’t trade him for someone good I say keep him and see how the season plays out.
If he was just in an early season slump and really shoots well going forward than we should keep him around.

His agent is rich Paul. Klutch wants him in Chicago. Move his arse now.

He’s improved in one area or another every year. Tells me he’s working.
When he came here, it was “I don’t want him, his dads an a-hole”
His dad hasn’t made much of a peep. Then it turned into, “well guy can’t shoot!”
Then he drastically alters his shot and improves his shooting
Then it becomes, “yeah but he’s not consistent “
Strings together a few good games and now it’s “rich paul is his agent”
Guy can’t win. Now it’s like he’s the only guy that has risk when it’s time to sign to a long term deal. He’s shooting 37% on 540 3PA with us (Beal is shooting 35% on 631 3PA in the same time frame fwiw) and playing good defense - if that’s the ground floor of his skillset at age 23, are we doing that bad? Or just searching for reasons to hate on him

Very good post (and the previous ones as well) I am really rooting for him as he might our best chance or the easiest chance for the third star and he actually fits Zion and BI with his character. If he doesn’t turn the corner then I won’t be advocating for a big contract for him but I don’t get it why so many fans hate him so much

To me, even shooting well, there are just a lot of holes and non-complimentary aspects to his game relative to our two best players that I think if you have a good offer in place you should probably take it.
There’s also just rumblings that suggest to me he is still hellbent on chasing a glamour market and I worry about what that fosters over the course of another contract as he maneuvers himself(and likely recruits others) to chase bigger markets after his first big pay day.
Agree completely.

quote:So since you read one speculation article on the internet and you have come to the conclusion that he wants to play for the Bulls? Rich Paul and Griff have a good relationship. If Ball wants out, they will work together to do that. This should not be like the AD fiasco if that is indeed the case.
