CJ McCollum saved the franchise and legitimized the existence of everyone in the organization

Does he come here if Willie's not the coach. Willie's changed the culture. He's still learning as a coach but he's handled what IMHO is the hardest part and the most critical part of coaching here.....getting folks to want to come here and when here play and not feign injuries.

BI or Zion is our best scorer and BI is our best passer/playmaker

+1. McCollum is so overrated by this board it reminds me of the Saints board.

He actually played really well for us sans like 3 games he had the flu. Game 6 he was hooping until the refs decided to advance the Suns to round 2.

I don’t get the CJ “hate”. In quotations, bc it’s not truly hate, but he still does get shite on far too much for almost no discernible reason.

He’s a huge part of the overall culture shift and the organizational relationship being repaired with Zion.

The Pels also had a 60% win percentage when CJ and BI played together.

That really should not be discounted or taken for granted.

The hate will go away after this season. I think the offense is going to be near historic. You have 2 guys that can regularly score against double teams in BI/Zion, and 2 guys that can regularly score against single coverage in CJ/JV. That's not even taking into account that nobody is going to be guarding Herb at all.

If the Pels aren't putting up video game scores all year, I'll be disappointed.

I think so, too, which is why I bet on us to win the West. There are two possibilities that I believe are generally underestimated:

1) Zion takes a big leap forward. If Zion has a consistent midrange jumper and/or can shoot 3s at a high %, then there's just no way to defend him at all. If his defensive awareness increases and his improved fitness enables him to effectively defend on the perimeter, our defense will far better than the sieve we were under SVG.

2) Improvement in the many young players. I think that JV, Billy, Graham, Temple, Nance, and CJ are the only players who have hit their peak performance. Besides improvement from Zion, we should expect improvement (in varying amounts) from Trey, Herb, Jose, Naji, Jaxson, and BI. If those guys take a collective step forward, we'll be much better than last season, even before we add Zion to the equation. (I'm leaving aside Dyson, EJ, and Kira, as I don't necessarily expect them to significantly contribute, though they could.)

Those two possibilities are the difference between a team that loses in the 2nd round and a team that makes it to the Finals. We'll see.
