California has 4 NBA teams (about to be 3 ), 3 NFL teams, and 5 MLB teams. That is just ridiculous. Florida has too major professional sports teams too. Why does the state of Florida, known for having the weakest sports fans, need 3 NFL teams? Its BS. When looking to take any sports teams away from any state, I look to those two first.

why is it ridiculous?

california has over 38 million people

3.16M/team

Louisiana has about 4.6M people, or 2.3M/team

if anything, California needs more pro teams. they have EIGHT times the population of Louisiana

Toronto - It's in Canada
Milwaukee - It's Milwaukee
Charlotte - They can be demoted to the D-League so they can have a chance to compete
Sacramento - city is on the verge of bankruptcy, no support

Clippers (one team in LA), Hornets (if I was a non-biased fan since a city that averages 14k doesn't deserve one), Raptors (I never liked the fact they expanded outside of the US), Kings (Warriors are only 1.5 hours away).

Yeah, I know why those franchises are in California, I still think its ridiculous. Its all about the market (money, like everything else). Sure, in the business world that is fair but I just think its funny that they don't give a rats arse about anything other than top dollar. Nobody cares about what a team can mean to an area, they just want alot of people to buy their merch and get them in the stands and squeez them for as much money as possible the rest of the way. Florida is worse IMO. Miami, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa are all terrible sport towns. Along with having some of the largest populations in the U.S. Florida, Texas and California add more people to their population each year than any other state so of course all those franchises are there. 9 out of 32 NBA teams are in those states (11 if you count NY) and I'm sure more than half of the NBA's revenue comes from those teams' markets. Louisiana has to fight like hell to keep the Saints and the Hornets and many other cities and states aren't allowed to have a team because the money is not there. Some diva NBA stars dont want to play in these small markets anymore, its all about being in the right market, getting the most exposure, making the most money...the NBA and the NFL are obviously killing me yet I can't stop watching. Particularly the NBA but sports in general have become so market driven that it is making it less fun to watch. I dont mean to direct this rant at you SlowFlow, just a frustrated, increasingly skeptical sports fan here.

Nope. But if an entire league is reduced to teams centered in "major markets only" that league becomes boring for a lot of people.

and possibly more exciting for a greater number of people. NBA fans, generally, want the big teams to do well

there is a reason why the ratings went to shite when the pistons and spurs were winning titles in that timeframe

yes. lack of stars. not market.

okc and miami are the 42nd and 16th largest tv markets and the finals last year got better ratings through 5 games than la/boston finals.

SFP sounds like Cowherd.

F the big markets.

And the teams I pick have nothing to do with reality because some of them just built new arenas or in major markets. But imo, fan loyalty is most important. I'm leaving off NOLA for now, but admit that we should probably be on the list.

1. Brooklyn - Don't need two teams in NYC.
2. Atlanta - No one follows the Hawks. Atlanta just sucks as a sports town.
3. Miami - Worst sports town in the country.
4. Clippers - Let the bandwagon **** L.A. fans all suck off the Lakers.

I'm not holding it against cities like Charlotte, Sacramento, etc. that have proven hardcore fanbases that have been disenfranchised by horrible ownership.

The fact that people are saying NYC and LA don't need two teams is really stupid.

Have you ever been to those cities? Do you know how fricking hard it is to get a ticket to any game? I'll tell you one thing there aren't seats on stubhub for 49 cents like a Hornets game.

Even when the Clippers sucked it wasn't an easy ticket (compared to Hornets games)
