re: If healthy, would you sign Boogie? Why yes or no?

The last two teams he’s been on made it to the finals. All had great things to say about him
He had nothing to do with those teams.
And i have plenty of great things to say about him as well during his time as a Pelican, but he's not the right guy for this team at this time, even as a vet minimum.
If you ask me, i thought he brought more to the team than AD did, and i much rather the passion he played with, despite his laziness at times, than AD. Hell he hurt himself chasing after his own missed free throw. AD might give that extra effort once in a blue moon. You could tell Cousins wanted to win while he was here. I can't always say that about AD, even before the fiasco last year.

Career in New Orleans?? What you mean the 14 months he was with y’all. That’s not a career. ITS A VETERAN MINIMUM. Literally any contribution from that low of a salary would be welcome by any team. There is NO risk... only reward. Your just a butt hurt homer.
You are a guest here on this board. You are not a Pelicans fan.
You do not know what you are talking about.
The Pelicans fans will pass on Boogie coming back here at any cost.

If Boogie is healthy/back to normal, his personality isn't a good fit. He fit with AD because AD didn't want to be the top dog, we want Zion to be that and Zion supposedly has that in him.
If Boogie isn't close to what he used to be then he's going to need to bounce around the league for several years and fail with several teams before he accepts it like Dwight finally did.

This. In fact I’ve argued in the past (and every Laker fan has agreed with me) that Boogie getting hurt was better for the Lakers. They brought in Howard to replace him and he has given them more and fit in better than Boogie would have.
Look, this isn’t NBA2K where you just stack the highest rated players you can get. Boogie on this team, even for a vet min, makes no sense. This team needs a 5 that can anchor a defense and protect the paint more than it needs a 5 that can shoot. Boogie has no proven track record of veteran leadership or helping bring a locker room together (in fact, if anything it’s been the opposite and pointing to him simply behaving on extremely veteran teams isn’t compelling), which means if he’s not on the floor and scoring buckets, he brings no other value to a young, developing team. Is he the most talented 5 that can be had for a vet min? Sure, but he doesn’t put us over the hump in competing for a deep run and wouldn’t be part of future plans. So why would we let him take minutes and shots away from other players?

quote:He was a non-factor on those veteran teams. He is not someone you want around a young team. He is far from a leader. He was in AD's ear to get out of here as well. You call others "butt hurt homers" when you are a fan of another team who is clearly clueless of what has gone on with this team.

What? He was on the roster and wasn’t a poison. When he played he played well. What are you talking about

quote:How well did he play for the Lakers? You are acting as if he was the reason those teams won the titles. Again, you are missing the point of him being a role player on a veteran team versus being the veteran on a young team. Huge difference.

Funny how everyone who played for New Orleans is a poison or sucks under those homer shades.. he was a leader for golden state.. everyone raved about his locker room presence. Anthony Davis loves him as a teammate. Boogie is not poison and it’s not even close

What don’t I know?? The situation was asked if you would sign a former all star to a veterans minimum? What do I need to know? That the pelicans was one of the worst run franchises during his tenure and maybe that’s why you don’t like him? Golden state loved having him... made it deep in the playoffs. you have homer vision.
Who the hell are you so high and mighty you speak for the whole pelicans fan base?? Some of you fans are as delusional as yalls management.

15 ppg is nothing??? For a team with no center I’d take that in a heart beat.
Of course he was in Davis ears to leave. You guys as fans admit that your management has been shite for a really long time. The majority of your franchise history actually. Management didn’t get fixed soon enough so why wouldn’t he leave. Y’all can’t say management is horrible we can’t win or build a team and then have spite for people advising AD to leave. Can’t have it both ways.
Guarantee you ive been to more pelicans games the last 5 Years then you.

No I’m acting like he was a member of their organization that competed for championships. Clearly he wasn’t poisonous the them.. their are 15 roster spots and the replicants have Hayes at center and that’s it. Healthy boogie puts up 15 ppg. You take that for the veteran minimum. It’s not like you are cutting someone to do so

You need to take a break. No one cares.
Posted on 10/8/20 at 11:16 am to Baron
What other players are you talking about? Y’all have Hayes at center and that’s it unless I missed some big news? If y’all acquire some center talent sure I understand your point. No reason to take potential minutes away from your future guys. But Hayes can’t play 48 minutes a game. I’d much rather him play the minutes of someone like Jah (who also isn’t part of your future).

His attitude and presence aren't necessary or wanted on this team even with a vet min contract. He doesn't really make us better and definitely doesn't push us to the next level so their is no reason to sign him. He also is coming off a possible career ending injury that turned into another injury so yeah "0 risk" when we are already building for younger more effective Centers.
Posted on 10/8/20 at 11:28 am to Dantheman504
The question was asked IF HEALTHY. so ya 0 risk. Hahaha a former all star doesn’t make you better. Can’t argue with crazy..
Posted on 10/8/20 at 11:29 am to TheWhitemamba16
Have the 76ers sign him then. We are good.
Posted on 10/8/20 at 11:31 am to Fun Bunch
Why on earth would he want to play for 76ers? 76ers have two centers on their team. They have a logjam at the position. You guys have a sophomore center and no one else... not exactly apples to apples here
Posted on 10/8/20 at 11:31 am to TheWhitemamba16
And I think its unrealistic. Dude is old, lazy, has a bad attitude, and thinks he's better than everyone. He will get hurt and won't be as productive. Also think he will try and get more than the vet min cause that's just who he is, he's grown remember? frick him and frick you too. He won't be in the league 2-3 years from now anyway.
