I get you not upset with the pick but the fact we traded up when we really did not need too
We absolutely had to trade up to get Queen. He would not have been there at 23. And you don't move up 10 spots in the first round of a draft without giving something of significance up. Just not a pick that has a legitimate chance of being a top 5 first round pick next year. Its not an indictment of Queen, its an indictment of our front office getting fleeced by Atlanta.

Why do people keep saying this? There is a much higher chance it's not a top 5 pick. Basically our entire roster would have to get "injured" again like last season AND you have to get lucky in the draft lottery where the odds aren't great as we saw this year.
More likely, we improve our record from last season and hover around the play-in ending up with a middle of the first round draft pick.

Y’all do realize we can trade Zion to get back in? Just a thought.
I think he is building it up for a Zion trade.
We also realize that Dumars has been sending Zion to the lottery and promoting him as the face of the franchise, and the best time to trade Zion would have been during the draft.

So then why not at least add top 5 protection in it?
There’s something to be said for going to get your guy but it’s a pretty heavy swing. We literally just found out last week how quickly the trajectory on a pick can change.

If either of the picks traded for next year end up being top 5 then Queen needs to be a pretty damn good NBA player to justify it.

We're without Murray for probably at least half the season, which results in a very young draft pick in Fears likely having to play significant minutes early (even tough I think it was a solid pick). We have a star who has shown you he can't stay healthy and does not seemingly care about being in shape. We have an atrocious coach. Its simply not an unlikely scenario we could be pretty bad again in a loaded western conference. Throw in the fact that the Top 5 scenario also includes a Milwaukee pick (Atlanta has its choice) that has the possibility of being really high up there if they trade Giannis, which is certainly a possibility. And remember whatever pick Atlanta ends up taking from us could very well end up being the top pick or a Top 5 pick as long as one of the Pels or Milwaukee doesn't make the playoffs, which is certainly a very plausible possibility. .Those things make it at least a "legitimate" chance that Atlanta could have gotten a Top 5 pick from us for the Pels moving from 23 to 13 last night. That's simply a risk the Pels should never have taken. Hopefully it works out, but its a hell of a risk.
