So essentially it's kinda like this
1. Don't hard cap ourselves but only have 2.9 mil to spend plus 120% Rondo and Clark AND PAY LUXURY TAX or
2. Hard cap ourselves and have the BAE to use but don't pay luxury tax

You could still pay the luxury tax even if you hard cap yourself by using one of the regular exceptions. The Tax Apron is $129 million and the Tax Threshold is $123 million. I assume that hard capped or not they're hoping to make an uneven trade at some point during the season to dump some salary and stay out of the tax.

I thought I heard somewhere that once you hard cap yourself you can't shed salary later on in the season?
