You’re speaking in hindsight. People were excited about Demps at one point especially early on. As they were with the young players that were drafted. We watched 2 generational talents walk out that door. Excuse people for being down especially the way this season has gone
yes I was excited about Demps coming out of the SAS farm, but we had unstable ownership (known at the time) with an "EVP of BO" that had no investment into the team (didn't know at the time).
am I concerned about history repeating itself? absolutely. will there be things from this season & regime that we look back on in hindsight and say "shouldn't have done that." definitely
but we finally are not repeating the same path (off the court) that has kept us in the bottom barrel of the league. and it looks like Gayle is finally focused on building a winner on the basketball court like her and her late husband built on the football field. you're not paying attention if you don't see that this is the best shot this franchise has ever had to building a sustainable winner.

Realistic people like yourself are ok with 11 losses in a row, No progression and poor coaching. You think anyone who is critical expects playoffs. Mediocrity is your game and you happily take it up the arse.
no one is ok with losses. no one is excusing them
however, this season is about keeping the long-term goals in mind. We don't want to live in constant turmoil. No matter what FA you bring in or who you draft, FO & coaching turmoil doesn't lead to success on the court.
the argument/discussion is this: do the benefits of firing Gentry/making changes now outweigh the benefits of maintaining a stable, cohesive group esp for the young guys & allowing them to work through adversity together

They started 1-12, then fired their coach
.
They finished 22-47..
Didn't make much of a difference firing him midseason. The reason for their move to 50 wins was player growth, it wasnt coaching

You don't fire a horrendous coach in the season because you think you will magically start winning.
You do it to get them out of the organization, get other voices involved, and to get a head start on looking for a new coach.
NBA coaches are one of the most expendable of major sports. They are fired early and often. It really isn't a big deal to just axe a guy in the NBA.

As long as Zion is coming back in two weeks or less (and I think that he is), then you don't fire Gentry right now, because we need to see how our other players fit with Zion before the trade deadline, and it's a lot harder to do that when players are also learning a new offense or defense, etc.
The offense and defense that Gentry put in place were designed around Zion. Let's see how Lonzo, Favors, etc. fit with Zion and how they perform. Griffin needs to get a good evaluation as soon as he can, and changing coaches now just delays that.

It's a 100% guarantee they are already looking at other head coaching options.
Right now, who on the staff would be doing any better than Gentry?
Finch came on last night and had some dumbass rotations (like leaving Redick on the bench most of the 4th quarter).
Nobody on the team apparently is listening to Bzdelick, because they are just not doing shite defensively...
We are not bringing in a new coach in the middle of the season, but I can pretty much guarantee you Griffin has his eye on someone..
And as much as everyone here would hate it (I don't think it would be as bad as everyone thinks), I believe he's eyeing Tyronn Lue

‘. is NOT the future. At least not in the sense of being the final product. Never was.
