In preparation for Super Bowl LIX events, ASM Global and the city of New Orleans will implement changes to parking and traffic patterns that will affect New Orleans Pelicans home games from January 7 to February 13, 2025. To accommodate these changes, the Pelicans are crediting the full amount of parking fees to fans who have already purchased parking passes. The Pelicans are also working with ASM, the city, and the NOPD to enhance security around the Smoothie King Center (SKC). Updated parking arrangements have been made to ensure a smooth experience for fans attending Pelicans games.

quote:

Parking Changes Overview: From January 6 to January 22, premium ticket holders will park in Garage 1. All other parking passes (Garages 1, 2, 5, and 6) will be redirected to Champions Garage, accessible via Loyola Avenue and Girod Street. Traffic officers and parking staff will be stationed at key points to ensure smooth traffic flow. The Pelicans will contact each pass holder directly to communicate the changes and answer any questions they have.

quote:

Premium Ticket Holders: Park in Garage 1. Existing passes will be honored and scanned after parking. A detailed path to Garage 1 will be shared via email with season ticket holders. Other Parking Pass Holders: Those with passes for Garages 1, 2, 5, and 6 will park in Champions Garage. Traffic officers will guide entry at Loyola and Girod Streets. ADA Parking: Reserved parking will be available on the first floor of Champions Garage. Game-Day Parking Purchases: On-site parking sales will not be available, and parking passes are non-transferable. However, fans can electronically transfer passes. Day of game parking will continue to be available at private lots and garages within walking distance of the arena. For the January 29 and 31 games, premium parking will shift to Champions Garage, with the lower levels designated for premium ticket holders. Other parking areas will remain unaffected. For the February 12 and 13 games, the parking plan will revert to the January 7–22 arrangement, with premium parking returning to Garage 1. Rideshare Encouraged: Due to the Super Bowl preparations’ impact on parking and traffic, the Pelicans strongly encourage fans without parking passes to use rideshare services for transportation to and from the game. Designated rideshare drop-off zones will be available at Duncan Plaza. Fans are encouraged to plan ahead, arrive early, and use rideshare services whenever possible to ensure a smooth game-day experience. Detailed parking maps and instructions will be available on the Pelicans' website and sent to ticket holders in advance of each game affected.

Because of the terrorist attack, or for something random/stupid?

Because the NFL has begun setting up structures for the Super Bowl and garages are within the security perimeter.

Because we weren’t made aware of this 2 weeks ago or sooner in the season, we can reasonably deduce this is a consequence of the terrorist attack.

This was happening before the attacks. It’s just now heightened because of the attacks and also who will be in attendance.

No way everyone can park in the Champion Square garage; and trying to get there is a nightmare, with everyone going in on one street. Total parking nightmare!

Imagine using rideshare and being dropped on other side of Duncan Plaza from City Hall and hauling it to watch a 7-31 team.

The NFL takes over those garages every Super Bowl. They set up massive tents for different events atop the garages.
