Knew he was athletic and Raw, but hes always moving which is perfect for our fast pace offense. He can easily get 5 dunks a game bc of his length. Super high motor, while being in the right spot at the right times. I really think he could give us 20 great minutes a game as a rookie this year even as raw as he is. He makes it look effortless, very excited about him after watching him last night. Last night showed us the difference between him and a guy like Kavell Bigby Williams. Williams has a high motor with good size but he just isnt capable of doing what Hayes can even on his best night. Very impressed with him. Also liked him and Walker quickly formed chemistry. Lonzo, Jrue, and Ingram will give him countless easy buckets.

He will need to develop a shot and hold back on some of the fouls. Overall, kid has some crazy potential. His stroke looks like it could get there. Him and NAW just look so far ahead of where they should be.

Agreed on the fouls, which was one of his things predraft that was talked about that he needs to work on. But thats just getting a better understanding of the game, which will come with time.

Was said that he's a poor rebounder which I don't understand why with his motor

It was funny to watch because he starts with his hands straight up, but because he has so little body mass he gets knocked off his spot easily and then his hands are bent over the guy with the ball

once he can stand his ground a little better I think he'll be more disciplined on fouls under the basket

It'll be interesting to see how he does with actual NBA players on the floor, but I too was impressed with what I saw. He seems to have very good touch around the rim, which is key. They aren't all going to be dunks at the next level, we all know that!

He’s still very raw. Needs major work on a lot of areas. He’s playing off of instincts and athleticism right now which is scary.

He just lacks the upper-body strength. I guarantee you that he'll eventually put the time in the weight room to become a solid rebounder.

Which he does need to work on, bc i think 2 of his 4 rebounds last night came on a shot that he rebounded, missed, rebounded, then made lol. But when hes capable of scoring as easily as he did last night bc of his constant movement and able to contest shots like he did all night him being an average rebounder is ok bc we got good rebounding guards, Ingram, Favors, and Zion, Okafor to help in that area when hes on the floor. Horford has never been to impressive of a rebounder either and hasnt stopped him from being a very plus player on both ends. But i do agree that it is odd he doesnt get more than he does.

which is right, but its funny how his lack of upper body strength effects him rebounding when he bulldozes through people for dunks lol. But at the very least he should become a good offensive rebounder bc of his motor and length.

Anthony Davis came in skinny and within 2-3 years of putting on weight helped him tremendously and i think Hayes could fill out similarly to how Davis did.

I think part of it is needing to bulk up, and the other part is positioning.

He seems to still be getting a feel for correct positioning when rebounding. I saw a couple of times where he gave his matchup leverage which allowed him to be more easily boxed out.

Very correctable with experience and coaching. His future looks bright for rebounding if he puts in the gym work.

Dude looked 15-20 pounds heavier than those UT clips we saw on draft night. That was the first thing I noticed seeing him. I was expecting a bean pole. He’s still skinny, but that’s a great sign if he’s putting on weight so easily.

Furthermore, he's garnered a loyal fanbase after just one game called the JaxSONS.

AD gained 30 pounds in his first 3 seasons with the Pels (started at ~220, was ~250 before his 4th season), hopefully Hayes can do the same.

Another thing is Hayes will be going against Favors in practice everyday. He will learn a ton from that alone

Jaxson Hayes needs to wear a fricking helmet when he plays because he hits the rim so much with his head..

I was thinking more like 5-10 pounds of muscle, but it's hard to tell exactly. He's clearly added muscle mass since his Texas days. If Aaron Nelson can get 5-10 pounds more on him by the start of the regular season, Hayes will get a lot of minutes.

One thing I wonder about is if it would work for he and Favors to be on the floor together when Zion sits down. I really don't know.

I'm like you guys, I was really encouraged by Hayes' rebound potential. His body movement was good. He was always trying to get position and his energy level was very good. He didn't ball watch much at all. It's just going to be a matter of putting on body weight and getting the leg strength to gain leverage and hold position.

Exactly, I pointed out that same thing. His frame is very similar, I think he can do the same if he puts in the work. Seems like a fierce competitor and that was noted predraft, so I would bet on him being able to do the same.
