Hawkins is a “change the way we look at the future of the team” type player

He makes replacing CJ easy

He makes the future of the SG position for us easy

CJ is a SG but he’s also our PG, which I expect to be Dyson in the not so distant future, so we’ll say both of them make replacing him seamless

I won’t say easy, because CJ is quite literally one of the best shooters in the NBA this season, is playing his role basically perfectly, and playing career best defense

That’s never “easy” to replace. But when CJ is over the hump, the future is bright

I don’t know man. Hes been so frustrating offensively. He needs to step up dramatically on offense for that to happen.

He’s 20 and he’s one of the best defenders in the NBA. His shot form is good and his offensive instincts are fine. I have no doubt he’ll find it

Maybe but I can find you tons of guys that never did despite having the things you listed. Sometimes it clicks on another team or it never clicks at all. We’re basically at the midway point and thought Dyson would be more ahead offensively than he is honestly. But lets see plenty of season left.

Not really. Doesn't really jump.

He's good at passing in tight spaces, but his decisions on how he finishes at the rim are laughably bad. He also has games where he doesn't seem to realize that there is a reason teams are leaving him open for three. He's had a few games this season where he has really put an anchor on our 2nd unit scoring.

I think that’s less him and more out coaching staff telling him to take that shot

It's definitely on coaching for not explaining to him that he shouldn't be taking that shot, but you were saying his instincts on offense are good, however I'd argue that he doesn't understand yet that not every open shot is a good shot with him.

I get NAW vibes with Dyson. Totally different players but NAW figured out his role on a different team. Similarly, I hate to say this eventually Dyson will figure it out but it wont be on the Pels.

Dyson has shown he is not a PG. His handles are not good, he is not a consistent shooter, he does not facilitate and is a terrible finisher at the rim. He is a great defender. He is still young, so things can change, but he has a long way to go on the offensive end.

We’ll agree to disagree on this one. I have a feeling in a few years he’s gonna make this statement look silly

I always thought it was bit harder to judge a man at twenty than it was at thirty.

It'd be awesome if he did.

But his offense hasn't made any real discernible jump from year 1 to year 2.

He’s gonna force Willie’s hand and earn some playoff minutes if he keeps this up.

CJ is a fantastic leader, too. That would possibly be the biggest thing missed in all of this.
